Would you take Chevelle as a substitite for Camaro?
Unless GM brings the UTE over, I'd most certainly go for a GTO-like Chevelle.
Ideally, a Solstice based 4 passenger V8 hatchback would IMHO make a good modern Camaro, and perhaps a daily driver, but being an Thunderbird SC refugee and late (very late) 30s, I'd probally be the target customer for a Chevelle.
Heck, I'm already plotting to buy a GTO once the dealer scalping calms down.

nope, I am very mad with GM and I will not spend any of my $$ with for a car from them
Sounds rude
but I am very mad with them I hate when a company doesn't give a dam about their customers, in this case " the Fbody fans that maybe have been spending theis $ over 35 year with GM
Know they can live with a GTO and expect the same sales or less than the Camaro had

Well this isn't something to think too hard about: Will you be buying a GTO to replace your Camaro when it comes out next fall?
Unless the rumored Monaro-based Chevelle will come in considerably cheaper (or you just don't like Pontiacs), the decision should be based on the same reasoning. If there are little differences beyond skin, "GTO" is a name that would carry more weight with me than "Chevelle," as would "Camaro" or "Bel Air." At first thought, I think big and heavy when thinking "Chevelle." Not to sell the nameplate or its history short. It's all better than "Monte Carlo" in my eyes, however.
I'm sure many would say, "wait and see" just as with the GTO unveiling.

Sorry this is a bit off topic.
I don't think there is anything wrong with bringing out cars and naming them things like gto or chevelle, but i think that does limit your target market. These cars will likely be the most attractive to people who remember the original versions. I'd love to see some new performance cars with new names, something today's younger generation can grow up with and accept as something of theirs. I think this is part of the reason why younger people today are latching onto the fwd compact cars, to distinguish themselves from previous generations.

This is pure fantasy speculation here...wouldn't it be cool if the Pontiac GTO was GM code for Chevrolet Camaro
And the 5th Gen Camaro is actually going to be what debuts at LAAS instead of the Pontiac GTO...It won't happen but it would be nice...

I guess it really depends on how the GTO comes together, and of course performance and price. The idea of a Chevelle does intrigue me though. I truly don't think that we will have a Camaro for at least 6-8 years, if at all. In a perfect world, I could go to a Chevy dealership and drive away with both a new Camaro and Chevelle. Sadly, I don't believe that will ever happen.

To me the Chevelle and the Camaro wars were over way back in the 80s. My first car was a 68 Chevelle. My best friends had 1st Gen Camaros. It was take no prisoners for years. I havent seen the GTO yet but without the Camaro its just not the same.
