The best estimates on price put it at $55,000-60,000. The production model will be finally shown at the tokyo auto show on Oct. 24

I'm not sure what year the Skyine came out (Late '60s maybe?), but I'm pretty sure the '63 Corvette had them first. Either way, I don't think that looks nearly as good as the previous Skylines.

It looks like the 350Z which looks like the G35... it was cool the first time but it got old.

The only thing I dont really like about the GTR is the $50,000+ pricetag.

Im sure someone could photoshop a more Camaro-like frontend with different headlights and grill but the overall shape of the GTR is very classy.

The the profile and rear of the GTR could easily pass for a Chevy but the front could not.

It has a G35 like roof line but thats it. It looks nothing like a 350Z IMO. The front end looks like it came from "The Fast and the Furious".

Notice how this car strays from the Nissan's new trademark grill. I guess this car is like Nissan's Corvette and it doesn't have to follow any standard design rules.

Edit: Now that I think about it, neither does the 350Z................so I guess that means that neither the Corvette or CAMARO have to follow brand design cues.

My math may be a little off, but the upper Skylines (the twin blown, AWD, AWS models) ran right around $72,000. The RWD GTR models ran around $50,000 or so.

With prices like that I don't expect running into one of those too often.

prices for the top model R34 GTR skyline were so high here becuae about 30-40k of that was what it costed to import the car, convert it to left hand drive, convert the car to work with our emissions system and get the car inspected so that it will be allowed to drive on the road. i read some place that each car has a special permit to allow it to be titled and liscensed over here because of safety regulations. now couple that with a car that is so rare ive never actually seen one in person EVER, and you have people that will pay 80k for a car that pulls down about the same numbers as a 50k C5 vette. which would i rather have? R34 no doubt.

i think the 50k base price for this new one is about right. only because an outside company doesnt have to come in and basically revamp the whole car in order for it to work here.

While I would take a Vette over a GTR anyday, I do think the GTR could become the Vette for the import tuner /Fast and the Furious crowd that have little interest in the Vette.

Lets be honest, the Vette has midlife crisis/balding old man written all over it and kids dont want to be like their parents when they get old.

I don't think so and I don't think the general public thinks that either.

partially because in the 60's there were the wide range of taillight shapes avaiable, square or circle. Camaro's Chevelle's all had circles as well. I'm sure other companies than GM used circles as well. anyways you can't really trademark a circle.
