If you are pulled over for speeding though, for example, and give the officer attitude you are leaving yourself open for one more thing for him to write you up on.

Now, however, if your car is parked out on a public street and you have no front license plate (and cops with decidedly nothing better to do like mine in Fairfield), perhaps they will go around and leave a ticket on your car. I was lucky enough to get this $75 blessing. Yes, front license plates suck.
cincy boy here too, reading actually
took mine off about a year or more ago, havent gotten a ticket yet
but i did get told to put it back on when i was pulled over for turning on red when there's a "no turn on red" sign
cop was cool though, he thought i had a 350 since i pulled out a little quick

Another FLA boy here, none required down here but ur right, that would probably throw off the front end design a good bit.

I despise front license plates, they totally throw off the lines of most cars.

I just moved from MI which doesn't requite them to WA which does. I am trying to go for dual residency so I can keep the cars registered in MI. I be damned if I am going to drill my car for something like that.

Oddly, states that have lots of meters always require front plates...

It's a lot of money for the state to spend because metermaids are too lazy to walk around the back of the car. I mean, what else is a front tag good for? It's not like you can actually read them on oncoming cars or anything.

The reflective nature of a front license plate also makes it easier for cops to detect you speeding when they are using radar or laser guns while you are heading towards them @ 125 mph.

The reflection of front headlights also assist in catching speedsters and this is one reason why headlight blackouts are illegal (besides the fact they usuallly reduce brightness and functionality).

San Diego, San Francisco, and I imagine some places in LA also use the front plate to identify red light runners from the photo-traps.

Neither my Camaro or my SC came with the front brackets, and I have no intention of putting them on them. The only ticket I've ever gotten for this was on a San Diego Navy base back in '98.
