would anyone be upset if they totally replaced the Z28 with the SS?

would anyone be upset if they totally replaced the Z28 with the SS?
Just wondering... what if the next generation camaro only had a V6 model, an RS and an SS(but in the price range of a Z28)? Would this really upset anyone? Or would you be okay with it?

okay... let me reroute the question a little(or add a little bit to it).... it seems that most everyone likes the Z28 better than the SS as in the nameplate.... and thinks Z28 should be at the top of the performance hill as opposed to the SS...and weather I agree with you all or not about the name I like the way the SS camaros looks better than the Z28s(thats why I added a SS hood and spoiler to mine).
what if SS came back as ONLY an appearance package(thats kind of what it is now) and replaced the RS? Therefore not giving any horsepower gains whatsoever...
Would everyone be fine with that? And should it be availible for all models such as a V6/SS, a Z28/SS and so on?

That's one loaded question for people around here...hope you bought the highest quality flame suit on the market. Seriously I guess I'm not quite as fanatical about the Z28 plate as some are but I think it would be a huge mistake to leave it off. Thankfully I don't see it happening.

I still think that the "Z" naming scheme works quite well to denote the true performance cars. Corvette Z06, Camaro Z28, Monte Carlo Z34 (it's not amazing, but it's quite a peppy peaky engine, as opposed to the ground effects package that you see on the new Monte Carlo SS)

I'm not even a big Camaro fan, I'm more into Firebirds, but leaving out Z28 would upset me. That is like the penultimate camaro, always has been. The EPA forced it to die a couple of years in the 70s but other than that there's always been one.. I can't picture a camaro with no Z28 availability. Might as well be a camaro minivan then.

Im not saying it will happen, but I was just wondering if it did if you guys would still buy it or what.. because bringing back the ss was cool! but it destroyed the resale value of the Z28's.... If chevy just did the SS w/o the Z28, maybe it would hold its resale value better and maybe the older Z28's would actually go up in value... anyways... i was just wondering

Since that was what the Camaro was to be named to begin with...
It just would be a shame not to use Camaro.
I am utterly amazed that there is even a possibility that GM can't use their own name even for a short period of time. (And I am getting the feeling that you have gotten confirmation on that Doug, but just can't say to protect your source...)

I wouldn't be upset. But the SS moniker has become so generic. SS camaro, Silverado SS, Monte carlo SS...who knows a cavalier and trailblazer SS might be in the works. Atleast the "z28" has camaro only roots.

Wasn't there a topic here last month discussing that GM is soon to release a Trailblazer SS?
