Will the Solstice end up costing as much as a Miata and MR2?

While Im sure GM will keep the base price of the 170HP Solstice @ $19,995.00 do you think a real-world equiped model will be in the $22,000-$23,000 price range that would put it in the same price range as the Miata and MR2-Spyder?
Would a loaded GXP model be closer to $28,000?

I suppose once you add DVD-NAV system ($1995) automatic ($700) onstar, xm, leather, etc... the price will climb.
Hopefully a base 250HP GXP will start under $23,995

The Mr2-spyder is more expensive and sells for $24,221 @ http://www.carsdirect.com/build/opti...&restore=false
Solstice will offer an automatic eventually. Alot of sports cars arent offering auto today. Automatics were 50% of fiero sales, so there is a market for them.
Insurance may become a big expense on this low priced solstice. That huge clam shell hood may be very costly to replace. The rear trunk is silly, who wants to go around to the side of the car to put something in the trunk.

The Solstice will be under 20k. All the body pannels are acutaly very cheap to produce, hence the low price. Most of the car uses already existing parts. There will only be a 5spd in the first year, and Im sure an auto will come later. Paddel shifting will add a lot to the price. GM is very excited about this car as they will be able to pull a profit from these cars, even if they only sell 20k of them. GM said they "cracked the code" when it comes to making a profit on niche cars. I would love to have one as a sweet summer car. I dont care about it not being a coupe, Im sure someone will make a hard top conversion for it. Hope they follow with the Saturn Curve and other Kappa's soon.
