Will the 5th gen see heavy discounts?
Will the 5th gen see heavy discounts?
Will it have a premium when it comes out or will it join the G.M. bargain bin like so many others have? I could see discounts in the beginning to spark more interest over the Mustang. One thing is for sure, either way it will not sell for sticker.

i have a feeling GM is going to price is just right, garner a ton of interest and the crappy dealers are going to "market adjust" it right out of the hands of the people GM intended to purchase it.

Well they better think of something because the whole idea of muscle cars is for the average joe to get a bargain for performance, when you take out the bargain its no longer a muscle car in my book. Maybe we will see more and more people buying used instead. (which isn't what GM needs right now)
Actually, right now we need to plan for some sort of action against these "market adjusting" dealers. We all know they're gonna mark these cars up, any ideas?

If the car comes out anywhere close to what people are expecting, you can expect heavy initial demand.
I would look to the introduction of the 4th gens for guidance. Very short supplies during the first year or so, especially on the V8 models. Don't expect incentives; rather expect sticker or better depending on the dealer. After the first year or so, it's gonna depend on the inherent goodness of the vehicle itself. If it's like the 4th gen and appeals only to purists, asking prices will drop accordingly. If GM learned their lesson and it appeals to a broad cross-section of the marketplace (like the current Mustang), then expect pricing to hold fairly close to sticker for the first few model years before there will be any decent deals to speak of.
