Why haven't they....

I was wondering why the Big 3 or even the foreign car companies have not come out with a electric version of a truck? That is where the gas market is/was seeing the biggest hit. If you had a truck that had say 2000lb ft and was able to not use gas for say 150 miles would it not sell?

I am sure the die hards would NEED a diesel or big cube engine but it could be practical and in some instances a hell of a lot more efficient than a typical truck.

It looks like it is in the works with the volt drive train and a larger battery (or that's my wish anyway.)

I've been saying for a while that I wish GM would make a small displacement (two or four cylinder) diesel-electric hybrid truck.

Just imagine an all electric rock crawler, or jeep rubicon type vehicle. The battery power would be eaten up in NO time! And the batteries would be so heavy, it just wouldn't be practical for the off road crowd.

well theyve had hybrid trucks. but one issue is that towing capacity was reduced bc of the hybrid drivetrain. although, most truck owners i see dont actually haul that much

Ford made an electric Ranger several years ago. They're extremely rare and desirable among EV enthusiasts.
