Why the hate of the LX cars?
Why the hate of the LX cars?
I for one LOVE the styling. It is nice to see someone moving away from the "norm" as far as styling goes. The LX cars remind me of the 50s and 60s cars with the big grills. BTW, why in the hell does 99% of vehicals made today have the hood lines that flow into the headlights/grills? Talk about a heard of sheep as far as styling goes.
Re: Why the hate of the LX cars?
Well I think the gripe about styling is two fold, one its unique, and some people dont want something different even though they say they do. Secondly that something different is all over the place throwing into everyones face, which kinda kills the appeal of it.
Other than that I would say the problem that a lot of people here have with it is, one it does everything that matters right, and GM didnt do it.
And two, there are those who still live in 1969' and wont have anything positive to say about any car that even hints at muscle/pony car heritage unless its a forward looking, not retro without being futuristic with heritage and all that nonsense...

Re: Why the hate of the LX cars?
I like cars that are wide, lower to the ground, have greenhouse glass that does not look like the gun ports on an armored car (in fact, the whole 300 look is similar to a brinks truck IMO). I don't like cars with 22 inch bling wheels, spinners or wanna-be Bentley's (on the other hand, a REAL Bentley is just beautiful) other than the aforementioned points, the LX cars are just fine!

They look ugly as all hell to me, the 300's, the magnums, and the chargers. Those are all LX cars right? It's a box with a box stacked on top, I just don't like the design. Interiors are pretty decent IMO, but the styling just is not for me.
Re: Why the hate of the LX cars?
I like the fact that they are rwd and offer big power.
I just don't like them because they are fugly. Seriously. The dashes are a little less ugly, but they are a) almost indistinguishable among the 300/Magnum/Charger, and b) they are so upright, severe, and tall that they remind me of the dashes in the boxy '80s Buicks (most domestic sedans). If you ever come across a Buick Reatta, for example, look at the sleek and compact exterior styling. Then look at the shape and height of the dash...
They are also a little on the heavy side, but unfortunately that is the trend for most cars these days...

Re: Why the hate of the LX cars?
I don't hate 'em........
I think the Magnum is brilliant.......a useable everyday car for someone who needs more room....yet great performance in head turning style.
Not crazy about the 300......it will take some getting used to....I think it's the greenhouse that turns me off......and some turn me off because they've been 'blinggged' to death by their owners.
The Charger? Hmmmmmm....really don't like that front end.........
BUT.......Styling has always been subjective. I equate these cars to the stir that GM created back in the 1977 model year when we dropped anywhere from a foot or more in overall length and anywhere from 700 to 1,000 pounds per car.........some really didn't like them, but they were a resounding success.
I think DCX took a gamble.....and they're succeeding. More power to 'em!
