Does anyone know why Pontiac U.S. won't sell the Pursuit(Canadian)/G4(Mexican) version of the Cobalt here? They could do an SE w/ 2.2L & 15" wheels, then a GT w/2.4L & 16" wheels, rear spoiler, & chrome tailpipe. Also a GTP w/ S.C.2.0L, 17" wheels, 4 wheel discs, & different spoiler. And finally a GXP w/ the turbo ecotec from the Solstice GXP, 18" wheels, bigger 4 wheel discs & another spoiler. I think w/ a setup like that it would be a bigger seller than the Sunfire ever was. BTW my vote is on using the Pursuit name. Alphanumeric designations have no soul (except for when they're used to designate sub-models) so they leave me cold.

 

My guess is that it probably doesn't fit with the direction Pontiac wants to go. Now we basically have the Cobalt and the Ion to make up for those lost sales.

 

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the Pursuit is the bone that gets thrown to GM Canada because we can't have the GTO here!

It eliminates brand overlap, which is what people on sites like this (and others) have called for quite sometime. "Why are there 4 minivans that all feature the same this, that and everything in between except the badge."

I know Pontiac needs product, but I applaud GM for this one.

 

In Canada, we also get the pontiac wave.
I test drove the pursuit, and I really liked it. It's a good bet it will be my next car come september when my current lease runs out.

 

Also, the HHR is based on the Cobalt platform, so now you get your choice of 2 flavors of the same platform, not just the same car w/ different body panels.
