OK...There's one thing I know for sure. As unfortunate as it is:

DEALERS ARE STUPID!!

It's as simple as that. I know there are a few exceptions. But you must assume this when you go to buy a car. It literaly took a dealer 3-4 hours to find my 98 that I bought. I wanted Bright Green with Tan interior, T-tops, Defroster, and Auto. That's all. Not a tall order I think.

You'd at least think they'd know the options available. I mean they're the dealer. They have the info, right? It's their job, right?

If I knew that little about what I'd do I'd be booted!! Seriously!!

If it was my job...I'd know my Sh**. Geez!!

Ok...deep breaths....calming....better now. Sorry!
Once upon a time, the people who sold cars knew a little about them, and even liked cars. That's not a requirement anymore. Far more emphasis is placed on sales tactics, reading a buyer, and ways to knock down their resistence than is actually spent on learning anything about what they are selling besides the name of the vehicle.

I'm guessing the best thing to do would be to refuse to deal with any salesperson who doesn't know anything about the car they are trying to sell.

I thought the WRX was perfectly fine when I sat in one. The shifter felt like it was exactly where it should be and the pedals felt good. Im 5' 10".

This is so incorrect it is not even funny. The sales game hasn't changed, the people buying the cars are the ones that changed. Todays market place is flooded with supposed "deals" and this is what sways people, not if they know about a sports appearance package on a type of car they may sell three a year of. Product knowledge is not hardly as big a factor as the care that is taken after the sale. There was a saleman in a dealership my dad worked at that told a customer that Subarus were made in Germany, but he sold a ton of cars because of the way he took care of the consumer during and after the sale, not because of product knowledge. Point of the matter is don't judge a salesperson on the knowledge of products (especially Camaros). Rather, judge them on their pursuit to make you a satisfied customer, because that IS what matters.

While being taken care of after the sale is important, it certainly does not change the fact that , in general, most car salespeopel today have no clue about the product they are selling.... I have so many stories about misinformed salespeople, I could write a book about them!
