Who will be the next automaker to bite the dust?
Isuzu already announced that they are done in the US with passenger vehicles. They will always be here selling med. to heavy duty NPR's and such.
Olds is gone
If Suzuki is still here, they will be next. I know last year there was only 1 dealer left in Ct that would do warranty work on them.
I think the Daewoo nme is done.
I think the next major auto maker to go would be Hyundai. I think a 10 year warranty is a last ditch effort to unload cars herebefore they say goodbye. Its shame because The guy who started Hyundai is a genious. They are by far the #1 ship building compay in the world.

Has Izuzu announced that yet? I haven't seen it.
FWIW, I don't think Hyundai is in any trouble. One does have to wonder what porsche is going to do after cayenne sales tank after a year or so, though..

Hyundai will be bought out by DC before they go under, they are already going to make a 4cyl. with DC and mitshubishi.
What about scion (aka Toyota's Geo) they havn't even started selling cars, but with cars that ugly they shouldn't last long.

Ford is fighting gloomy predictions that it could be forced into bankruptcy, weighed down by debts of $150 billion (£94 billion), stumbling sales and a sluggish world economy.
A scathing examination of the motor icon's balance sheet by the analyst famed for predicting that WorldCom and Enron would go bust long before Wall Street realised those companies were doomed puts Ford's future in doubt.
Bill Ford: praised as hard working but his turnaround plan for the group has yet to inspire recovery
Sean Egan, founder of the Egan-Jones ratings agency, offers eight reasons why Ford could be in serious trouble including huge pension fund liabilities and a lack of cash to fund borrowings.
"If it didn't have the name Ford, it would be in bankruptcy right now," says Mr Egan.
I don't wany to believe this article. From where I'm standing, though, it sounds as if UAW retiree benefits are going to sink the domestic automotive industry.
Considering the economy, I'm surprised car sales are still so brisk. I'm wondering if we'll see a retreat of several of the smaller companies back to their own shores.
Wouldn't it have been great if Subaru had bought Daewoo and changed their name to Subawoo

I don't know how much pension liability Ford or DC have, but its less but it is still a major problem.
