Yeah so you can remaind people from a distance that they just got beat by a CAMARO.

Question

Is it really that "huge"? I think that it's a nice touch, and it certainly doesn't take up "the whole rear of the car"

I never really put much thought into it, but I think it looks fine. I don't think it's one of those things that "must be preserved", but if it is done in a similar fashion on a 5th gen, it would be of no concern to me.

I'm all for it. Like z28wilson said, it isn't tacky. I look at the rear of my mustang, and the embossing doesn't scream out of place or tacky.

This is an old picture of the rear of my car. The Mustang GT embossing is barely noticable in this picture. It doesn't even stick out that much.

Should it just say "camaro" or "Camaro Z28" on the z28 model? I ask because there's "Mustang", "Mustang GT", "Cobra" on certain late-model mustangs depending on year/model. People thought the z28 looked too much like the base car, and that there wasn't much exterior identity other than badging. This might be one way to set the models apart, and another way of identifying a z28 from the rear since dual exhaust is also optional on v6 models.

Lettering on the back?

Just personal preference of course but I would either like a small nameplate on the back (much like the bowtie and Z28 logo are now on the 4th gen) or nothing at all.

I may be in the minority on this subject but I tend to like simple, understated, and functional so slapping big chrome letters on the rear wouldn't be a big draw for me!

Not that's it done a bad job in the past but I'm hoping that with the 5th gen, Chevrolet spends it's styling dollars on things that actually make the vehicle perform better in all departments, high-speed stability, cornering, breaking, acceleration, etc.

I doubt that a simple embossing on the rear bumper would affect things like performance. It's a cheap and easy process.

Styling is also very important in the 5th gen or any car for that matter. Ignoring the styling and pouring all the money into engine/suspension/brakes wouldn't be wise. There has to be some sort of balance of quality, styling, and performance.

I voted no because I for one do think its a little "tacky"... however at least it would allow "other" drivers to know what they were just smoked by.

Wink

I don't mind it...though it is a PITA to clean wax residue out of.....I'd prefer not to have it, but not a biggie.

It's kinda' like the reccessed tail lights on the C5....the remaining "shelf" at the bottom is a common PITA to keep clean.

I like it better than chrome letters, at least on a 4th gen (at least on black car, which I have)... I also like the Z28 badges in black too, with the simple red outlined bowtie next to it on the back..

It is a pita to keep clean.Wax residue can easily build up if special attention isn't paid to it.

For minor swirls Zaino will help. Catch is you can't pick it up at the store. You have to order through the mail or internet. Check out www.zainobros.com. I'll vouch for the product, it's pricey, but it's the best I've seen and one bottle will last you a long time.
