Where will most of the 04 GTOs sales come from
Still thats not what I'm getting at, going through tons of cars is not my thing and some others are that way too. Why spend the money instead of just waiting for the better car that we already know about ahead of time??
I know HSV try to compete with the the Luxo brand coupes in Australia. I read something on there webite about some high percentage of the customers look at the M3's etc as well before buying a HSV.
I know they are a step up on the Monaro/GTO but you'd think that the new GTO would at least be an option.

I'm guessing 35% new group, 25% old gto fans, 20% f-body people, very minimal BMW crossover (if at all) since I really doubt they are aware of PMD's self-declared mission as of yet, and various single digit other groups..

My guess is that your average GTO buyer will be male, 50 years old and a dedicated domestic buyer. This car won't canibalize Corvette sales - even if the drivetrain is pure C5. The GTO's too soft and too tallboy in appearance. Even the 2005 Mustang has moved to a more agressive, less sedan-like profile. Don't count on the GTO being a slayer of high-end 'Stangs.
However, the upcoming Monte Carlo SS will suffer most from the competing GTO. Take away the big rims, and the GTO is pure "personal luxury coupe" from the design standpoint. The (few) people who used to buy the Cadillac ETC will be drawn to this car. Count on it.

I mean, we know that 05 will get the scoops, dual side outlets, possible LS6, and that 06 will be built here on a different new RWD chassis, (not just another car with a different bumper and Grand Prix/Am looks) and with who knows what else. Why buy the plain, slower, and non U.S. built 04?? If B.L. was really listening and knew what he was doing he would give the 04 the scoops and LS6 and whatever so both of the years are the same, if its possible that is.

In my case, I don't mind the lack of hood scoops or 40 fewer horsepower (the car will STILL do over 160, and is likely to get to 60 in the mid 5s).
NO: I'm not a person who would have bought a Cadillac ETC.
NO: I'm not 50 something.
NO: Corvette isn't on my option list (Surrrre guys. Someone who wanted a 2 passenger sports car named Corvette is going to go for a cheaper 4 passenger coupe named GTO, but not a lowslung, near identical CamaroSS or Trans Am WS6? Riiight!
)As for GTO being too "soft"......

...However, I want something that performs like my Camaro. I'm going to need a functional back seat. I refuse to give up a stickshift, and at the same time, I'll buy foreign before I buy a FWD car for my own use. As you see, the choices become very, very limited.

I guess if the GTO is your only car, I guess I could see then.

The only thing good looking view on the mustang concept is the profile which will be screwed up once they add a back seat. plus by 2005 retro will be dead, most seam to be sick of retro already.

Why do you need a performance car to haul your family around in? It's not like your going to be slaloming your 5 year old to kindergarden, or drag racing your wife to yoga class.
