When you hear "SS", which car do you think of?
I think of a 69 RS/SS. First thing that comes to mind. And I'll tell you I dont think about it being a trim level like it was in 1940 or whatever the **** year it started that people like to point out.
To me, RS is a trim level, SS is a *****-out level.

The Chevelle and every other Chevy muscelcar that had the name, besides the Camaro. Z28 is known and liked with the Camaro ALOT more than SS is. Those other cars never had another model like the Z28 to be more popular than the SS. It was Nova SS and the like and that was it. The Z28 became the legendary and top Camaro and is considered that by practically every single person who knows and doesn't know better about how it was and should be. Every1 knows that 302 was really underrated
and it handled and braked better. Looked better too IMO.

Z - youdaman!
But be careful... you are really about to show your age.

I too grew up watching every war movie and documentary that cable TV could bring in as well as reading books and papers...
So... did the Panzers have duals like the 454 SS?
First thing I think of is the 70 LS6 Chevelle, since that was sort of a climax year for performance and a climax for the Chevelle itself.
next thing that comes to mind is 69 Z28, maybe the 94-96 Impala SS, 60s Nova SS, etc. Oddly enough I also think of 60s-70s era lowrider SWB Chevy trucks done up as hotrods with SS grill logos and purple-dot taillights and stuff like that, since I used to see tons of those around here in the 80s..

Actually the first car I fell in love with at 13 was a 1968 RS/SS 396 Camaro. However when I first hear SS I think of the 70-71 454 SS Chevelles. Of course we can't forget that the 427 Yenko Camaros also began life as SS cars as well.
