When will we have DOD in a performance car

Just wondering about when they will use this, I see posts about new performance concepts coming up, but what about the DOD, with gas being so high, it only makes sense to throw that in production.

I'd also like to know when VVT will be on the V8s. I'm assuming the Z06 will be the first with 3 valve heads.

They were going to use DoD on the vette, but there was some problems with rev range. Redline would have been cut down to below 6k rpms. Im sure after they fix the bugs in the trucks, we will see it coming to sports coupes, but hybrid and gas saving things in trucks mean more then cars. Cars get pretty decent gas milage, ist the trucks with sub 20 numbers that need it, and will make more of an impact.

As for VVt, they should do more and more as time comes. First will be the LS7 in the vette, and then we should see in in the 3.9 along with more trucks.

Corvette should be getting 30 mpg with a tall sixth gear. DoD should make getting a Corvette a requisite with the justification to wives everywhere.

Too late for me. I just got one, and am working on getting another. "Honey, this is for pro-creation, not recreation."

I don't think we'll see DoD in a performance car. With the Corvette communitry even if DoD was feasable with the engine they would have lost ALOT of Corvette sales. Offer it on SUVs, and Trucks and you should have the perfect package for the soccer moms and guys that drive a truck as a daily driver and don't tow all the time.

Nah, it wouldn't lose sales if it could lay the numbers down.

On the other hand, if it cost 5hp or more...

... guys like me would figure out a way to rip it off the car before the state could mail me my license plate.

I really dont see what the problem with DoD in the vette would be. If you could switch it to all 8 when u are on the track but then rest of the time have it save ever more gas and get ever better city/highway mileage than it would make v8's survive even longer. its a really cool idea, someone I know has an old 8-6-4 caddliac one of the older attempts at dod and its pretty cool just to think about. just dont try to make a vette a hybrid anytime soon and im cool with it

Corvette is a sports car, not very practical, and gets good enough mileage already. For most people it isn't a daily driver. Its about peformence baby
DOD seems like one more thing to break anyways, seems like another pointless gimmick on a Corvette. However its a great idea for gas swilling trucks, if they can make it work well and be reliable. The 1982 Cadillac DOD was a joke, it hardly ran right from the factory.

DCX's system is different then GM's DoD. The DCX's system is the same one that MB had a few years back.

I don't think you would need DoD on a performance car considering why these cars are purchased and the types of people who purchase them. I my opinion, I hope they never ever put DoD into performance car powertrains. Use it on trucks instead.
