Pics have surfaced of what is said to be the all new '08 Impala, first of American Zeta platform cars. At the same time TheCarConnection.com (from whom the pics are provided) says that they have sources that tell them this is the all new Malibu, which I perosonally think is a bunch of crock. The proportions, even some of the design features, look spot on w/ the Holden Commodore we now see uncamo'd.





Check out that long *** wheel base.. no way it's a Malibu, and the lengthned rear doors.

To recap:

GM has/had 2 scenarios regarding Chevy's Impala.

1. Move the Impala name to the upcoming RWD sedan and move the Malibu name to a bigger FWD chassis to take the Impy's place.

2. Keep Impala FWD and put a different name (Belair? Caprice?) on the new RWD Chevy sedan.

Word is that the RWD car will be named Impala, which would make this the Malibu.

The 2 cars in the link are this car along with an Aura.

Car Connections even made a mistake on this originally.

As a side note, the Malibu Maxx will be killed off and this car is on an extended Espilon chassis (the stubby Malibu is dead).

I kind of liked the Maxx though.... especially in SS trim.
