What year for the Camaro refresh? 2014?

Do you guys think the Camaro will get the normal refresh (new front and rear end treatment and interior redo) in four years?

I really don't know how they're going to improve on the 69 influenced exterior since it all blends together so nicely. I would guess GM would have to do something with the Camaro in 2014 to counter the next-gen Mustang around that same time.

Probably, but right now I doubt GM has any idea. They have bigger problems to work out before they start spending money in 2014.

Don't most all coupe sales usually peak in their second year of production and begin to drop off with a mid-cycle 'refresh' giving it a short-lived boost? I guess GM still has a year or two to see how good the sales of the new Camaro are and decide what direction they want to go.

While the sales of the Dodge Magnum were disapointing, I still hope that GM can make a Camaro based Nomad sometime in the future in order to keep the Camaro platform alive (if needed):

old 1999 concept

Anyone remember the 1997 Pontiac Rageous show car?

Not to be confused by this:

I thought either the 99 Nomad and Rageous were both awesome vehicles. The 2001 Nomad (on the Kappa platform) was still a nice design. It would have also helped CAFE numbers (like the Magnum and HHR).

I also thought the Magnum concept was very, very cool, but the production model lost something.

But to me, the 2010 Camaro draws more from the 68 than the 69 (other than the gills.)

I figured I might as well ad the 2004 Nomad concept

I love the Rageous. I remember seeing it in Orlando at a car show down there and thinking it was one of the coolest cars I'd seen in a long, long time. There are a lot of LS1 T/A styling points in the front of that car.

I thought the Magnum sold pretty well until the Charger debuted. The Charger started stealing alot of its sales and Dodge let its design get old and dated.

Wagons typically don't sell well in America anymore. I thought from the beginning that Magnum was more of a niche product.

As for Camaro, I would expect some exterior touch ups and a (much needed) interior redesign. When that will be I have no idea, but I would guess the OP's time frame might be close. The key might be Alpha - if it's ready to go, we might just see a short 5th Gen run.

This.

I see this gen Camaro as playing out similarly to the C5 Corvette, no real changes during the run, and a complete re-do on Alpha.

I don't expect GM to spend any more money on the 5th gen.

The 6th gen is in very early development.

As much as I love the 5th gen, that is awesome news to here.

I tend to agree. How much money actually gets spent on the 6th gen will depend on how fast GM can turn things around. If the 5th gen continues to sell well, I'd expect the they will milk the current design as long as possible; however it should also loosen up money for developing the 6th gen.

However based upon the current economy, if both GM and Camaro survive, I honestly think the 5th gen may be around longer than some expect.

In a 27.5 CAFE world with lower emissions standards I might agree with you. The Feds' new legislation changes a lot of plans.

Averages or not, it would be unwise to soldier on with a 3900 pound coupe circa 2016.
