2) For that matter, anything Shelby Turbo '80s Dodge. Not many left, a lot of performance for the $$, and these things still have cheap mods that make them even faster...if you can keep them running

3) '93 Daytona IROC Turbo. 224hp. 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Goes in snow. Yummy

4) Anything with an H.O. Quad 4...Cutlass Calais International Series, Grand Am SEs, Grand Am GTs...again, try to find one...then see what people are modding them to. I've seen a Grand Am SE with a Quad 4 H.O. running 12s!

Just my .02...
damn!you beat me to it!!i was thinking the turbo mopars!hey, there's a shelby charger in this area rotting in some redneck's yard,i'd buy it but it looks too far gone for someone of my limited(if any) resto skills,IF you could even restore one,i doubt many parts are even available.
my first car was a quad 4 '88 grand am,i didn't have the HO version, but with a 150HP and a 5-speed,it was a blast to drive, yet it would vibrate your fillings out when you were stopped at a stoplight, but FUN,FUN,FUN.
what about the last riveria, that was an interesting looking car, couldn't you get a supercharged version?don't forget the imports, how abut a rear-drive corolla GTS?wasn't there a hot version of the 323?CRX will definitely be collectible!

I had a turbo mopar once...2.5L Turbo(sniff)

Turbo cr**'d itself. It leaked oil, and then jammed a valve in the down position and promptly ate itself to death at 80,000 miles.

Other than that it was a VERY fun car....and on par with performance of mid 80's f-bodies in power at least. 150HP and 2700lbs. I miss that car.

Oh....and oddly enough K-cars have a following of their own.

all the rivs were supercharged... but FWD
nevertheless, very comfortable cars with a moderate ammount of *****, nice interior.. overall great cars especially in the last few years when gm debugged them

and there was the 323GT... awd, B6 turbo... wen't like stink for such a cheap car! THey have become pretty rare and sought after in the past while

here's a surprising one: anyone remember the buick reatta? first car to have one of those touch screen thingies onboard

the reatta(is that spelled right?),an interesting(at the very least) looking car let down by its horrible interior.the exterior is quite sporting looking, yet the horribly dull interior looks like it shares its dash with a century or some other buick,i think it was the late '80s riveria, but it was just awful.convertibles are rare though,at the very least, the reatta will be a interesting car to look back on,we'll see them at car shows in 30 years and say,"wow,i can't believe someone saved one of these!!"
how about that cavalier cadillac??cimmeron?they're not collectible but do you think someone somewhere has a mint one stashed away?now that would be a car show magnet(oddity?) one day!

Early 90s Acura Legends with the M6. Quick cars, and I know someone locally pushing 11s N/A.

The '88 Fiero GTs are more than an honorable mention. They are already sought after by collector's and can fetch prices in the $10-20,000 range.

My favourite car is the 88 Fiero GT, too. Absolutely. I think this was the best and most fun GM car I have ever owned. And it looked beautiful. At least the bodystyle is still up to date now not to mention in 1988.

I'd have to say Omni GLH and Shelby Chargers as well. they're quick as hell and have a super stiff suspension on them. my roommate used to have a shelby and always surprised many v8 owners with it that passed it off as a crappy 80's charger.

How about the GN's successors...the GMC Typhoon and Syclone. They're not as widely popular as turbo Buicks but still fetch a high price tag.

Just realized the thread is about sport coupes. Think that discounts all the sedans, wagons, trucks, and SUV's posted here??

Glad to see my GLH idea went over well

2 I admittedly forgot are the Fiero GTs and Reattas. Both are nice cars. My parents almost bought an '89 Reatta all the way back in '91...gorgeous cars. I don't know how much potential Reattas have to be sleeper investments, due to their lack of enthusiast appeal. But the '87-'88 Fiero GTs I think are definite sleepers.

ford probe GT,particularly the '93-'97 version, probably one of the best handling cars of the early '90s.
'79-'86 mercury capri, particularly the fuel injected 5.OL HO '86.anybody got any production numbers on these cars?i've seen maybe two in the last 10 years.
