My money would have to be on the Shelby Mustangs and Camaro Supercars (Yenko, Baldwin, Dana etc.) of the late 1960's.

Ah yes, that brings back some memories of a guy down the road having one of those in the late 80s/early 90s
With Silver IROC-Z on the door and a silver pen stripe, yeah those looked awesome.

Reverse flow, optispark (bad idea when the waterpump leaks or engine cleanings, good idea for everything else), over 10:1 compression, and a whole host of other things. Add in 6 speed trannys and a steal of a price, and it's a great ride.
You know, I think that the styling of the LT-1 Camaros (93-97) is holding up better than the 98-02 models except for maybe the SS. The LT-1 style front end have more of an edgyness and sharp lines to it, like the direction many new cars are going.
The 98-02 front end is soft and rounded, something that styling is getting away from in new cars.

agreed. I think the LT1 front end looks more aggressive, and therefore, better.

I think that the 5.0 LX sedan/notchback is already becoming a classic. If you find a nice one today....you are going to pay for it.

Of course the classic ones are Camaro, Firebird, Mustang, Cougar, Barracuda, Challenger and Javelin.

But I think it's fair to include 80's Chargers, Lasers, Daytonas, Sebrings , Avengers and Fox based Mercury Capri's.

As far as GLH's go...I LOVE THEM! I used to have an '84 GLH. I've been looking for a GLH Turbo lately...that isn't too trashed.

Great pocket rockets. I wouldn't call them Pony Cars though.
yea but the term pony car meant a smaller than family car (compact) that was used for the masses and injected with some bigger HP engine..I say the Spirit R/T..come on these things were faster than a 80's Monte SS...whats not to say they are pony cars??
80's monte 15-16 1/4's
Spirit R/T 14-15 1/4's

and yes as you can see Im throwing out the odd ball cars ..I like them...

but if I had to it was the 5.0 LX stangs (bang for the buck)..it just dominated in the 80's-90's till the 4th gen came out

Not saying a 455 is wimpy, but you obviously have never ridden in an AAR. Ive had the privelege of riding in one ( ) and getting my *** beat by one. I was surprised because of the weight difference... and his only mods were LTs and a rebuild.

opps....my bad. I meant Cuda' as in Barracuda.....I forgot that Cuda' was a seperate entity. So I should have said..."forget Barracuda"

AAR...thats the 340 six pack, right? Yes..those are pretty awesome cars. Probably the best looking Dodge muscle car.

I would go with the '02 TA and '02 SS at the top and then the '87 GNX (not really a Pony car i guess, but try and tell that to the vettes of the day)

oh and the Conquest TSi is more of a mitsubishi (Starion) so count that out, not really even american. they are sweet cars tho, biggest 4cyl produced (2.6L) turbo'd and RWD. Can't go wrong with that.
