What stuff ISN'T important for a 5th Gen?

guionM mentioned that a navigation system should be an option on the next Camaro. Personally, A nav system on a Camaro doesn't really seem to fit the personality of the car. Yeah they're nice but to me it's more of a luxury item that I doubt many Camaro people would want.

How about a trip computer? They're nice, and they're pretty simple, but again it's something else that won't make-or-break the car for me. What about OnStar? Run-flat tires? XM radio? Automatic climate control? Some kind of targa setup instead of T-tops? Which stuff could we completely do without to keep costs and manufacturing complexity down?

To me T-tops are like Synomimous with F-body so I dont think I could live without those.

But I could live without a V-6 model being avaliable

I agree wholeheartedly. I've never been a convertible man, especially on a performance car (too much weight, body flex, and cost) but some kind of open roof more substantial than your average sunroof is a must on a Camaro.

Yeah well, you might be able to live without a V6 model but Camaro surely wouldn't.

With Solstice comming at $20,000, Camaro can do without a 4 cylinder engine (for those that don't know, Solstice is as wide as a 4th gen, and has a larger hood), so it can keep the V6 as standard.

Nav system is an option on the G35, and it's likely the Supra and Skyline will have them also. If a version of Camaro doesn't have some of these items it's competitors has available as options, it's going to be viewed as a pretty crude car very quickly.

We need more than a stripped base model and a low content model with a big engine. That's what the mid or Grand Touring version would be for.

If the car ends up being capable of being nice touring coupe, I would like to see a Nav system. Targa...yes, Runflats...no, On Star...h*ll yes, even Cavalier has that. For those of you that don't know, the onstar is more than just for getting directions and calling 911, if you get an SES light, you can hit the button, and they can read the code remotley, while your're driving out in the boonies, and tell you what the prob is, and let you know if you really need to worry about it. Can unlock your car doors, can track it if stolen, all kinds of stuff. Should be standard.

If you had a base car had and a luxury option package, I think theres room for the Nav sys, the fuel stuff, GOOD leather seats (leave cloth only for base, or maybe w/ cheap leather), dual zone auto a/c, a better sound sys and premium wheels/tires. Then you could have a performance model w/ all the stuff we want in that.

I guess my vision keeps putting me at my Pontiac dealer in front of a GTO salesman....{sigh}. Sux to get old.

What can't it have, you ask? I say that it can't afford to be less equipped or less powerful than anything currently produced or in the pipeline. Period.

Add to that one of the most important features, IMO... if you airbag deploys, OnStar contacts you immediately in your car to see if everything is OK.

They also locate you and send out emergency services immediately.

This can truely save your life.
