Originally the LS-6 was planned for the '02 Camaro Anniversary cars. I remember reading it in GM High-Tech a couple of years ago. Then the program got axed, I remember when they reported that too. I don't remember why but it probably had something to do with GMs beancouters.

Also there are major differences between the LS-1 and LS-6 besides intake and cam.
No it wasn't Johnny Hunkins was just to gun happy with the article. I remember Fbodfather saying if an LS6 Powered Fbody came outta St. Therese in 02 he would personally eat the car...and somehow that still got published

I think the point was one was planned, not produced.

No I don't think it was seriously considered really. I mean sure it may have been discussed simply because people wanted it, but there was huge hurdles to overcome..mainly Team Corvettes reluctence to give up thier death grip on the LS6. They were never happy that the Camaro even got the LS1 really

Well, I think even Team Corvette needs to live in the real world sometimes...

Camaro had been receiving the Corvette engine for nearly two decades by the time the Camaro got the LS1.

On top of that, I doubt that GM would continue to mass-produce the LT1 when the LS1 was now available.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that alot of the developement dollars for the LS1 came out of the Camaro program.

If it wasn't for Camaro....who knows....maybe Corvette would have never had an LS1.

Actually most of the Gen II small block development was paid for by the Truck team. I think Team Corvette would have rather seen the Camaro with a 5.3L I know there was a fight for the F-body to get the upgraded LS1 in 2000

The cast heads on the L98 are so primitative its sickening. The aluminium heads are still popular today. GM didnt just dump the Vette L98 in the FBody like they did in the 4th gen, with a slightly different cam.

That is truly sad considering Team Corvette and Team Camaro were one in the same. It is no wonder the F-body had problems like it did when the team managing the car was working to hold it back.

Maybe Camaro managment needs to be a group other than Corvette when it comes back.... (Headed by Scott Settlemire, of course! )

It's hard to make an outstanding car when some of your own people are more concerned with something else.
