Eh...I heard that Willmington is a wrap. There is nothing planned there as of right now, and there will be nothing planned there for the near future. A little birdy told me that they are moving Kappa production to Mexico.

I sincerely hope you're joking.....

Wilmington is secure for years to come.

The Aura is made at Fairfax and I'd guess with the $146 Million in tax abatements and revenue bonds Wyandotte county gave GM to get the line along with the $203 Million upgrade GM made to the plant to build the Aura that we'll be seeing Epsilon cars built there for some time, both I and II.

The G6 is made at Orion Township.

The Cadillac BLS is also built alongside the 9-3 in Sweden.

Does the G6 fill Orion or could the next Lacrosse go there?

I'm not sure what the exact capacity is on Orion right now, but I know they are running under capacity. They used to build LeSabre, Park Avenue, Aurora, and Bonneville there, so I would think that was more cars a day than G6. Anybody here work there? I know there are some Fairfax guys on this board.

Nope, not at all. Guy I talked to didnt speak too highly of the plant, and he's been there for a while. GM is losing a lot of money per Kappa car...a lot due to production problems.

There is an entirely new production line going into Wilmington right now.

GM is sinking $$$$ into this new line. The plant is safe.

Plus GM has just raised the MSRP on the Solstice $1k on the base model. That is going to help along with the GXP.

I know GM is setting aside money for Wilmington, and I know the L assembly line is finally coming down. But are you sure a new line is going in right now??

The reason I ask is that Vauxhall should be starting to get badge engineered Skys if they already aren't, Daewoo is now slated to get a Kappa very soon, and Holden might end up selling a couple hundered as well in Australia. Might be a situation of someone saying "We're getting a new division selling our model", and it's repeated as "We're getting a new production line".

I don't know what will become of Wilmington, but I sense that GM is not pressing to do anything new there.
