Re: What do you think wil be the next big automotive trend?
hover cars, hey in back to the future by 2015 they had 'em, probably by 2010 we'll get em. Wonder if 0-60mph will be replaced by 0-1000' (altitude)??
Hybrids, You can already see the progress now. I bet that in 10 yrs there will be a hybrid option for most cars made, except exotics etc...
I can see diesel making a comback also. From what ive read there are more diesel vehicles in the pipeline from a different number of manufactuars.
Hmm...gotta have one weird one....ahh for the hell of it hydrogen, it will catch on...maybe

Cheaper, faster, and people will make them faster. It will be on the further side of 5-10 years, once battery technology gets up to a higher level to be more efficient. The hydrogen and hybrids will be earlier than that, but they still won't be near as efficient or easy to maintain than electric cars will be. I think only after that (30-40 years from now) hover cars will go into mass production because electric cars will be so cheap the roads will be full of them.

RWD
also...
1) - high MPG cars.
2) - 500HP every thing!!!! 400HP is to new 300HP so now it seems like if you're not making a 500HP+ vehicle your not a real player.
3) - Better quality and more stylish interiors

Re: What do you think wil be the next big automotive trend?
- More high-quality offerings as small cars/hatchbacks
- Decrease in large SUVs
- Increase in large (rwd & awd) sedans
- Mazda continues as a hot brand
- Increase in hybrids (including SUVs)
- HP wars and performance trend continue
Re: What do you think wil be the next big automotive trend?
I think it will be cars like the Freestyle and magnum. They try to combine SUV cargo room, seeting of a minivan and a carlike ride. Though I think someone should have told people this concept has been around a while and is called a Station Wagon
I also think that the smaller sporty cars will continue to make a larger presence (IE G35, 350Z, Solstice)
I think it will be sometime untill be get alt fuel vehicles available widespread, the hybrids are mearly a stopgap.

I think cars will become so overly controlled by computers that the day of mechanically modding a car will be over and most performance gains will be done be computer and hacking the cars brain.
It would be funny real car performance will be directly tied into video game endorsements in the future so you mode your video-game car on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox6 and unlock a new level you will be able download the improvements via software to your real car through your wireless Wi/fi connection

I would expect a new breed of micro trucks made in China to sell in the US for about $5999 could become a huge hit.
Currently Japanese micro trucks are sold in the US but they are not street legal- http://www.best-used-tractors.com/mini_truck.html
