The SRT-4 was originally expected to sell 1,000 units annually. They sold 10,000 and are gearing up for 13,000 in '04.

For '04, SRT-4 gets 15 more horsepower, 5 more ft lbs of torque, a Quaife torque sensing differential and stickier rubber.

The price also goes up a thousand bucks to $20,995.

 

Pretty amazing, it certainly has taken the lead for the hp/$, it seems hard to beat.

the Neon/SRT-4, while aren't beauty queens, aren't at all ugly either. a friend of mine just got one last week and I had a very good upcloase look at it. its not too shabby at all.

 

Actually, the general consensus w/ the sport compact crowd is that the Neon, especially the SRT-4, is very good looking.

Good for them! MOPAR is doing good with this little rocket. They can still build a relatively cheap performance car....

 

I don't think that the SRT-4 is ugly at all...except for the rear wing.

 

My biggest complainet on the looks it how high the back en sits. I think it is like that so there is no hump on the rear floor board, but I dont know, because I know nothing about sport compact cars.

If they just leveled it out, it would look alot better.

 

Can't deny it, but this shouldn't be a trend. I would hate to see them add incremental improvements over time and subsequently drive up the price. I hope they keep it simple, cheap, and fast.

 

Found this dyno of a stock 04 SRT-4. Graph smoothing has been turned up. 235.8hp /252 ft-lbs is impressive and, if true, it's definitely underrated.

235 on a dynojet seems to be right around where they all dyno stock. Not bad at all. Anyone know if you can put a new turbo on this and really crank up the power? I think I remember seeing somewhere that the turbo housing is actually cast into the exhaust manifold b/c of space restrictions. Are there turbo kits out for this car yet??

 

Mopar has 3 levels of upgrades that they put out for the SRT-4 I think. Doesnt that include a better turbo in the package? Maybe someone can elaborate better.

The SRT-4 isn't exactly my cup o' tea but I wouldn't define it as ugly. The wing is rediculous and the front fascia is over-the-top but overall it isn't the worst thing I've seen.

I'm starting to wonder...who needs Dodge's overhyped/overrated Hemi when they also make these little monsters?

 

GM sold as many Aztecs last year as they sold Corvettes (+/- a few thousand depending on 4th quarter numbers).

How's that for a shock?

 

GM needs a car like that. Actually, they should just make lots of musclecars.

I still haven't seen 1 of these cars on the road yet. But where I am ricers are kinda rare, it's mostly nice musclecars and sportscars.

 

We have one in the driveway. It's yellow and I feel like a goof when I drive it. But I have a little secret..... late at nite when no one is looking I take it for a spin and have nothing but smiles. The more you beat on it the more it makes me happy.....

I have run a best of 13.84@101 with a 1.9 60 footer...
My wife has run a best 14.00@ about 100 and and she runs 14.1s all day long. This is a 4 door everyday car that out runs and out handles a lt1 fbody.
