You sure sound like you are getting scared about what might happen.

God forbid YOU actually have to adapt to the consumer, right?

Guess what... the majority of the car buying public are not "car guys".... what do you think would happen to your sales record if you printed out this little quote of yours and ran it in a newspaper ad for the dealership???

LMAO

I'd like to tell GM what I tell the kids on my swim team, "Just shut up and do it" but GM hasn't even said anything about our "Mustang competitor" other than it's on hiatus.

Re: What is a Car Guy?

I currently own seven cars.

Of the seven I would consider five to be performance cars. (A highly modified and modernized 67 Camaro, a mildly stock 67 RS Camaro, a 95 Z28, a highly modified 96 Mustang GT, and a mildly hopped up 01 Tahoe LT.)

My screen saver is a series of over 100 Camaro pictures.

I subscribe to three automotive magazines, and read at least a half dozen regularly.

I have several diecast models of musclecars (mostly Camaros).

My favorite TV channel is Speed TV.

The welcome message on my cell phone is "Camaro Forever".

I sir, am a "car guy".

I don't understand this. Are you saying that in order to be a car guy, you need to hone your negotiation skills? So, a person who tears down their 1970 Split Bumper to bare metal and rebuilds it just for the pure unadulterated joy of it, is not a car guy because of poor or non-existent negotiation skills isn't a car guy?

That makes no sense. Please clarify.

That's where I disagree. A car guy HAS to have a "cool car" and if he doesn't, then it's only because some financial disaster is *temporarily* preventing him from doing so. And it has to be a disaster, because there are "cool cars" at EVERY single price point and all kinds of body styles. From clapped out used 1990 miatas with 200,000 miles on them to Turbo Regals to Exotics. Hell, a V8 AMC gremlin could even qualify.

The key point is that while a "car guy" having a "cool car" is a given, having a "cool car" does NOT make you a car guy. Many people would have you believe as such, but they are usually pretty easy to spot.

Yeah right! a car is just into his mode of transportation be it a lada or a ferrari.

Then again there are different kinds of car guys.

If your talking about an industry car guy, then well...

1. - screw the stock market and the investors!!!!!!! if these are the only guys you answer to then your pharked.
2. - if your in it only for the money and are not crazy about your product, your pharked
3. - if you dont realize that the most important assest is your customers first and your employees second, the business third and the stockholders fourth, your pharked.

No car guy drives some ***** car because insurance is too high, or gas is too much or whatever. A car guy sucks it up, makes adjustments to other things and motors on.

Re: What is a Car Guy?

GM employees in Flint are becoming extinct. Retirees are scared to death of losing their benefits and pensions. If you think selling cars here is easy, you're nuts. Whoever thought driving a foreign car in Flint would become fashionable? There are so many people upset with GM that you see Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans on every corner. Flint once boasted over 80,000 GM employees, now less than 10,000. Not much of a surprise GM management's incompetence lost the California market. Big surprise they so easily gave up the home turf.

PUH-LEASE

This guy has previously said that most of his sales are GM employee pricing.

Now, there are none to sell to and its hard to sell GM products in Michigan?

And they called John Kerry a flip flopper.

Re: What is a Car Guy?

I said there are significantly less employees. Still are many retirees and family members. Yes GMS is probably over 90% of sales in mid-Michigan. Fortunately I have gathered over 3500 customers over the years, many outside the state, having offered free home delivery. Just last week sold units to customers outside Michigan including 2 in South Carolina by chance, Indiana, and Ohio.
