Were Lori's CR comments and GM's response planned?

Curiosity has gotten the better of me this time for sure. Lori Queen's mini-rant about CR has been expressed hundreds if not thousands of times on message boards like these but never by an executive. They typically run their responses through PR and the lawyers before they say anything publically, Bob Lutz excluded. So were Lori's comments planned by GM fully knowing that Rick would call up the CR CEO and apoligise? If so that would be a good way to get the public's attention and by getting little press on the official GM response the public would see it as GM taking a stand.

Also was there an alterior motive involved? Were people on the product planning board setting her up for dismissal so they can get something she doesn't like approved? It would be in her area, small cars, and would be RWD, something that I don't belive she favors (probably why Kappa is grouped with Corvette and not small cars).

Hmm... things to think about.

Who knows if this has more official sanctioning than we think.

But I certainly don't think this is a 'set up' for dismissal for the reasons that you mentioned.
