Well, We saw this coming.....'07 Impala SS Nascar

Looks like Monte Carlo is getting the ole boot from Nascar first, and then the production line. Its ashame Monte Carlo finally was getting some attention with addition of a V8 this year.

Like it really matters what name they slap on those Nascars, its just decals. I lost interest in Nascar cup series years ago, I mostly watch racing based on production type vehicles, whenever I can catch it on TV.

The Monte is sticking around until at least 2009. This Impala SS is the NASCAR "car of tomorrow" that is meant to enhance the racing experience. The "Car Of Tomorrow" will only be used in if I recall correctly will be 16 races this season with that number growing in 2008.

That is one awkward looking racecar!
I can hear the complaining now about the inability to bump draft....

Is it really going to have that spoiler on the back? I've never seen anything like that on a NASCAR racecar before.

Yep. It breaks up the air versus the older style lip spoiler, thus helping solve the "Aero Push" problem when a car pulls up right behind another. I was hoping they would go with something similar to the CTS spoilers that has the middle section cut down lower to do the same thing.

Also big wings have been around before. Go back to the 70's and look at the Superbird cars

As stated, the MC will continue to run the non COT races in Nextel Cup until 2009. It will also continue to run the the Busch series.

NASCAR sucks. there is absolutely nothing exciting about it.

I'd much rather watch open-wheel or production-based racing.

I wish people would stop beating on NASCAR. There's plenty of excitement and cool happenings in a Nextel race. Sure, it's not for everyone. Neither is Pro Golf.

Yea, both make me feel that I could watch a 2 minute highlight reel of each and get the same amount of excitement as the full 4 hours.

I know about the superbirds but those cars were basically the same as the ones rolling off the production lines. This spoiler looks like the type you can to go Pep Boys and pick up.

Now I may be WAY off base here and totally out of my mind. But I always thought the pep boys ones were designed to look like the ones on race cars, not the other way around. Things that make you go "hmm"

the only excitement I could possibly think of at a NASCAR race is a huge crash involving half the field. otherwise, I have no desire to see 50 replicas of the same car with different colors on them going in a circle for 500 laps.
