The dodge/chryslers are built locally and I read an article in the paper recently about the VW and that it all comes down to Vdub trying to reach a U.S. sales goal of 800,000 units. So they are trying to get into different niches. The total minivan market is supposed to be 900,000 this year. I think their goal is 60,000 units. Should we expect a wrangler fighter from VW soon as well?

The paper didn't have a picture, I didnt realize that it would be such a blantent rebadge. I dont know that I could tell the difference unless I saw it on the sales lot.

- i'm basing it off most of the women i've known who own VWs (beetles and jettas). I only know one guy with a VW (Passat)...and he would be equally clueless about the minivan.

It would be nice to have a VW without all the problems, lol. Our VW GTI dropped both windows, burned two coils wich put it in the shop for almost a month each time, and the brake lights kept sticking on, all within the first two years of ownership.

I've heard others have had problems, esp with the previous generation. My MKV has been perfect so far (knock on soft-touch rubber, plastic, and aluminum).

I don't know about Chrysler minivan reliability...I'd wonder if VW minivan owners would blame Chrysler or VW for the problems?

I wonder how much VW service departments will try and deflect customer anger towards chrysler?

I'm hesitant to even take my VW to a VW service department for ANY service--even an oil change. VW dealers themselves (the service anyway) really leave a lot to be desired. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Granted, they will have the benefit of being able to call VWoA which basically twists the dealer's arm for you to make things right. If you've got a legit claim, VWoA will make it happen.
