Volt launch question
Volt launch question
From the Chevy site, the Volt will only be available in a few key markets at launch. What stops me from buying one in Detroit and bringing it back to south west Ohio? Will maintenance have to be done by a specific dealer in those launch locations?
Thanks

I think it is more about where they market the car as well as sell it, and not necessarily limitations on where someone can buy it and then take it.
How dealer maintenance will work is a good question, though.

You answered it yourself. There's nothing stopping you, but good luck getting the local dealer to service it. I'm sure as it rolls out nationwide within a year or so you wont have a problem, but in the interim any updates or service issues will be a problem.
I agree with what has been posted above. I actually have a contact at GM who does Chevy Marketing that could maybe give a better answer, but she doesn't work on Volt (she has Malibu and Camaro).
Absolutely you could buy one as soon as their launched though. Local dealer support just wouldn't be available until they go on sale in your area.

Well what happens when somebody buys a Volt, takes it on a trip and has an issue while they're away from home?
Don't see how the issue would be any different, the dealership would have to find a way to resolve the issue for the Volt owner.
it just might take a little longer to fix. but the parts should get there.
