V8 returns to Impala & Monte Carlo in 2006
Some of you are slipping really badly. This little blurb came from John Middlebrook, Vice President of general Motors:
http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content...._code=01374483
GM's new engine RWD engine & transmission plants are scheduled to produce parts for cars in 2005 for the 2006 year.
You now have all but official confirmation beyond what I posted long ago.

I'll add the chassis will be shared with the new Commodore, El Camino as of 3 months ago was also comming back, and GTO won't be an orphan. This chassis will also spawn one niche car in particular assuming it was approved (I'm not refering to Camaro), that will probally set some type of record in going from concept to production... the most (not the least) amount of time.
Good night.
"Chevrolet Monte Carlos and Impalas will get V-8 engines. No timing was announced publicly."

Now, what could they do to chase down Ford's Mustang? Hmmm...

Yeah, Nomad was my guess too. I guess Dodge showed they weren't too scared to enter the "Muscle Wagon" territory with the Magnum SRT-8, so why not?

Last I heard the Nomad was throwen together at the last second just to fill space. Still, it was cool and I would like to see it on the road. Glad to see GM building some decent cars finally.
