Unbelievable
Unbelievable
So I've been reading all the comments under stories about the current Toyota debacle. I've noticed somewhat of a new "excuse" used by Toyota apologists: The out-of-control Toyota models are having this problem because they are "made in America by Americans." If they were made in Japan, they wouldn't have this problem, because "they have much better QC over there."

Funny , I thought it was floormats . I don't care how they wanna separate it , it's the same problem as the initial recalled cars . They are carefully trying trying to dance around having to attach lexus's name in the latest . It's all the same problem , lol .
Sadly, Lexus owners are the ones that got the ball rolling on this.
yet they do not get the mention. And they are saying Scion is not part of it?
now here is the thing. Is it getting airplay on the news? I have heard it on my local radio. just an ending blurb about it in a 90 second spot with some auto guy. then they went to commercial for the next guy. And a few other small TV spots. But nothing like the Firestone recall from Ford. every other story was Ford Ford tire Ford Firestone...on and on..

Perception is something manufacturers work hard to cultivate positive perception of their products.
In my own personal opinion, Toyota had benefitted perceptionwise regarding their product's dependability and not styling or innovation with exception of, maybe, the Prius.
I don't see that Toyota has handled this skillfully from a PR standpoint. In fact it has been anything but skillful, IMPO.
I don't know if "face" is playing a part in this but I will suggest that "face" plays a bigger role in eastern culture and in eastern business culture.
Particularly in Japan.
I betting things are very wierd in the hallways of Toyota at this point.
