Quattro and 4MATIC—Meet ATTESA: Infiniti will begin offering an all-wheel-drive version of its hot-selling G35 sedan, fitted with Nissan's ATTESA E-TS (electronic torque split) system, in early December.
Now comes word that an upcoming G35 platform mate, the Skyline GT-R, will get not only ATTESA E-TS but also a twin-turbo V-6 tuned by Cosworth. Producing in the neighborhood of 480 horsepower, the new V-6 features twin-turbo motor assist, a technology employed during off-boost periods—say, when idling—that temporarily turns the GT-R into a naturally aspirated car. Here's how it works: When off boost, magnetic valves open to form a bypass that redirects exhaust gas around the turbos and directly into the precatalysts; when on boost, the valves close and channel exhaust gas into the turbos. The net effect is a car reportedly capable of meeting strict emissions regulations around the world. Don't expect to see the GT-R, likely labeled an Infiniti when it comes to America, till 2005 or 2006.

I'm sure it'll go toe-to-toe w/ it around a racetrack. . .
and since when is it overpriced? It'll probably be in the same pricerange as the Z06. . . 60-70$k?

The '06 Z06 will be more powerful and lighter (due to lack of AWD) and not much more $$ than the current car (if GM keeps it's promise)

http://www.skylinegtr.com/ (maybe their website explains it...)
The GTR had the laptop hook up, console mounted computer, 4 wheel steering and a super stout bottom end. The car also had a super stout transmission to handle the stress of awd clutch drops.
I dont think it was overpriced at all... thats a lot of car. What it couldnt do stock was made up for in the aftermarket. ITs a popular tuner car with a lot of capability. THere are more than a few 1000hp skylines out there.I'd think that the next GTR and Z06 will be pretty close in value if not performance. I'm sure that even if the Z06 is faster, the Skyline will be plenty fast, have more "exotic" features and be a bit more luxiorious on the iside.
I agree with Z28x. If the Skyline comes over here around the 08 timeframe, the Ford GT, Z06, and Viper will already be in the middle of a horsepower war (or at least thats what i think anyway) with some pretty high numbers. The Viper is already at 500 and the GT is supposed to be around that and Lutz is promising that the C6 will have a version that will destroy both of those cars.
Four years down the road (aka around 07-08), im sure Ford will already have countered the C6 which leaves the Viper and Corvette hp numbers going up even further. If the Skyline is gonna wear a high price tag, it better be packing some serious firepower when it gets here to contend with Detroit's finest. Also, as mentioned before, the Skyline is by far no light weight with its AWD system.
Not trying to slam the car, I think its great its coming here, one of my friends is a diehard Nissan fan and now he'll have the oppurtunity to grab one when he gets out of school. All Im saying is that Nissan better have more than 400-500hp on tap for their halo car when it does come here.

I'm sure it will be able to compete all right, but when was the last time you saw a foreign supercar, especially an imported Japanese supercar, priced reasonably? If you say $60,000 you're only about 60% right. Look at the tepid NSX and what Honda wanted for that. It won't match the C6 Corvette in value terms...but that doesn't mean it isn't a bad-a$$ car....

Now they're gonna get their asses handed to them when they get imported here.

Even the R-34 would get smoked by a Camaro SS in the 1/4mi.

I personally don't see it costing more than 60-65k tops or a 2007 z06.
It should be a fairly sophisticated, luxurious, over-engineered, built to the hilt, performer. I too think it'll match the z06 in value.
I don’t think it’ll beat a smaller/lighter 500+hp z06 in stock form, but the potential with minor mods is there.
