Trunk or ?

I know Ive been for a trunk on the 5th gen in the past. Ive got to admit though the Torana hatch is pretty cool if it doesnt cost the car the 1/4 windows. Where is the Torana btw? with Alpha comming up Id figure this would be a pretty important concept.

the trunk on the concept is useless. can't fit anything through that opening, nevermind the lift height. a hatch would make it way more user friendly.

If it's going to remain a notch back, imagine cleaning the back glass....it looks like it might be harder to clean than the 4th gen windshield since the top of the headrest and the ceiling will be tight.

I don't buy a sports car for versatility. It only needs to haul a$$.

A proper trunk get you a stiffer structure with less weight. Haven't we had this arguement before?

and one thing that i hear was the forth gen was hard "to live with everyday" but it hauled a$$ and look how that worked. GM wants the new one to be "more user friendly" but when the trunk opening is way too small it kinda takes away from the "user friendliness" that they are trying to achieve. i like the hatchback in my 97. if i was to get a 5th gen i'd need to get another car just for when i need to do anything with it...other than hauling a$$. not very user friendly in my book.

I doubt the hatch or truck had much impact on everyday livabilty. The '90s Mustangs had a trunk, but that didn't seem to deter too many buyers. Aside from my auto-x tires a occasionally putting the mountain bike in the back for long trips, I hardly max out the cargo space.

If cargo space if that big a priority, then perhaps a sports coupe/car isn't what you need.

Actually I hated the hatch of my 98. Cleaning the windshield and long back windows were the worst. It always dumped water on the car when I opened it. I think the Torana/Scion type hatches are neat as far as usability. Thats why I brought it back up. I would say definately not if they cost roll down 1/4 windows and structure though. Yeah weve had this arguement before, it was just a thought.

It can't be worse than the Monte Carlo Aero Coupe.

as far as the opening goes, it probably is a bit worse than that.. you can see on the Monte Carlo that the trunk lid goes down from to the bumper.. whereas on the camaro.. it doesnt go down from the top hardly at all...

the lift-over height to get stuff in the trunk is gonna be a bit high as well... i wonder if they'll lower it to the bumper.. maybe include at least the inside taillights in the trunklid... would make a much larger opening for stuff... but might ruin the look.. we'll see when the production car comes out

that would make it 100% better.
