Trigger Pulled...
Re: Trigger Pulled...
Some random thoughts....
The six speed is awesome, it's changed my mind on "more gears hunt." It stays in 6th on the highway pretty much the whole time. When it does downshift it doesn't slam down into a crazy gear and rev like mad like some 5 and 6 speeds I've driven, it's smooth and "precise".
The motor frickin' rocks. Don't know what else to say about it. There is, however, what I feel to be an excessive idle vibration in park and drive. Most people probably wouldn't even notice it, but I do. Dealer had 3 people and a tech check it out before we bought it and, of course, we got the "we don't feel anything" BS as I figured we would. Under all driving conditions the car is 100% vibration free. I just thought that a brand new v6 would be smoother at idle than my 11 year old 5.3L... Again, most people probably wouldn't even pay any attention to or notice it.
There is a fairly long pause when you're at speed if you want to drop the throttle to the floor... it's like the car has to think about what you just did
If you feather it more it will fly almost as quick... WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE it's REALLY REALLY fun....
Ride and handling are exceptional. It "FEELS" like a Mustang.
The ambient lighting is REALLY cool! You can change it to a bunch of different colors, I remember white, red, purple, maybe orange, maybe a couple more? but we both love the Ice Blue, it's very pleasant to the eyes at night. You can also turn off or dim the ambient lighting. Neat.
I don't like the sync system, I think it's somewhat of a hassle to use... too many commands. Maybe after I play with the system some more I'll like it. It's free for 3 years. I have no idea how much it is after that. You can get local weather, turn by turn directions, if you sync a phone it will dial 911 in an accident (if your phone doesn't break or fly out of the car...) My wife likes it, so that's all that matters...
I hate the cheap looking chrome door handles. They should have been black. Stuff you touch a lot should never be chrome. Same goes for the center console handle, should have been black.
It's weird filling the car up... there is NO gas cap (is the Camaro like this as well?)
The leather seats are super comfy and supportive and the power driver's seat seems to have infinite settings. My wife loves that she can ramp it up and see much more of the hood, I slink down in it.
The heater controls are in the dumbest place ever, if the car's in park they're almost useless, in D they're still not "easily accessible."
The gear shifter says D 3 2 1... WTF? Ford cheap out on that or??? I understand that the low gears would be for track fun, but there also isn't a "OD Off" button that I could find either. It lugs a little around 40-45 like it needs to go down a gear (must REALLY be tuned for fuel economy). There is a button on the shifter that lights up on the dash as a car pointing down a hill... have to check the manual on that one...
No, that seat color was NOT our first choice
Probably our last. We wanted all black or black and stone, but this is what showed up. It had the exterior color and ALL the other options we wanted and nothing more so we compromised on the seats. My wife also didn't want the stripes, but I like 'em, I think they're growing on her.
The rims are some of the coolest factory rims I've seen on a car. They really fit it well.
I hate the sequential taillights. I think it's part of the premium package. It looks really cheesy. I'd rather the whole damn thing just lit up...
How did Ford lighten the car? They removed the damn spare tire. In the space where it's supposed to be there is a small electric air pump and a can of fix a flat

Re: Trigger Pulled...
I work at BMW. If the X3 (and I'm sure the other SUV's and cars) aren't equipped with Run Flat tires it gets what we call a "Mobility Pack" which is the same thing, fix a flat and an air pump. There isn't even a place for a spare, the mustang at least has an obvious large circular place where the spare is supposed to be.

Re: Trigger Pulled...
Put that interior in a Camaro and polish it up a bit and I would buy a Camaro. Anyway, it sounds like you like the car overall which is good. The automatic 6-speed gear hunting would drive my crazy as well.
Re: Trigger Pulled...
The Kona Blue is a beautiful color, and would be my choice as well.
I test drove a manual V6, and was very impressed with it. The engine truly is fabulous, but it does have a light vibration at idle. I will agree with that.
Congrats on the new car. With the Pony package, you will outhandle some pretty respectible cars. Don't worry about Sync, you will get used to it. Most people who have it, love it.

Re: Trigger Pulled...
From what I've read, the Pony Package used to include some GT suspension stuff, but for 2011 it's just an appearance package (which is what I wanted.)
I think you're thinking of the V6 Performance Package. This car does not have this.
I also found out what that car on the hill means, it's supposed to be a grade assist feature that uses engine braking... never thought that would be on a mustang. I pushed it on the highway, it feels like it drops to 5th and the rpms go up to about 500. Not sure if I should use it as an "OD off" button or not. Probably not. When I want to pass I put the pedal down and GO!

Re: Trigger Pulled...
Only the gt with brembos and the v6 with performance pkg is suppose to have spare delete. Strange yours does not have it. Sync is a breeze to use there are only a few commands used regularly. Once you learn it, you will miss it in every other car.
Re: Trigger Pulled...
I found this last night from a couple different posters on a mustang forum:
This is "new" for 2011
Ironically, we have Ford Roadside Assistance free for 3 years and under the list of what it provides is "Flat Tire Change"... I hope they bring one with them
According to that forum, I need to keep a look out on ebay for 2005-2010 GT 18" spares and a jack kit.
The "Premium" cars come with "Sequential LED tail lamps."
Looks like this:

This is "new" for 2011

ALL GT's (w/o Brembo option) come with an 18" Temp Spare & Jack Kit.
ALL Canadian V6 Models come with a 17" Temp Spare & Jack Kit.
ALL U.S. spec V6 models, Bremo GT's, & GT500's have a Tire Mobility Kit (Air Pump) instead of a spare.

My V6 convertible came with 225 60R17 tires. The dealer parts department says I would need the following spare and jack kit:
Per Dealer Parts Bulletin 3413, the mini-spare wheel is not an option for the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 with 17" and 18"wheels. The following list contains all of the part numbers as communicated in the bulletin that would need to be ordered along with the Ford list price for each:
9R3Z-1007-A (wheel) $150.75
F42Z-1700-A (valve stem) $2.47
4R3Z-17080-AA (jack) $45.20
4R3Z-17032-AA (lug wrench) $15.53
AR3Z-17005-A (lug wrench cover) $40.65
W710349-S437 ("J" hook-bolt) $2.26
E9SZ-1424-A (washer) $5.46
1F1Z-1462-AA ("J" hook cap-nut) $14.25
W711555-S437 (jack retaining bolt) $3.42
5R3Z-17A083-AA (English jacking instructions) $7.00
T185/60R17 (Maxxis tire) $132.00
*The total for all parts needed would be $448.32 (includes tax). The tire, if ordered through a Ford dealer, has to be called in to the Ford tire hotline. The tire is then shipped from a supplier in Canada to the dealer.
No information has been communicated to us in regards to a "kit" being available. If you could find out where this person found this information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Trigger Pulled...
I have never been a Mustang fan until the 2010 styling + the 2011 5.0 engine. However, I can say that I kind of like the sequential tail lamps that the Mustang has. I agree with you that they give the car an identiy among the crowd.
Re: Trigger Pulled...
A jack, wheel wrench kit, and donut spare would save 30 or so pounds???? But if Ford removed all of that equipment and put in a "mobility pack" they could save $150-200??? per car, that's a lot of cash. Or as you see above, if a customer really wanted all of that, they could charge an extra $450!

I couldn't find it as an option on the Ford website.
No offense/harm done on the sequential tail lights thing, I'm just not a fan of it. I never even noticed any cars that had it before we got ours (driver's in SC aren't exactly known for using their Turn Signals.)
