Re: Trailblazer, Malibu, Maxx, SS pics.
The Malibu SS should be getting a 6 speed manual just like the GTP G6 will have with the 3.9L
TrailBlazer SS looks awesome
The malibus look a lot better with that new front end. I like the rims better on the Cobalt, but I'm glad to see the Malibu get some 18"s. I hope they add some 17"s to the line up of regualer Malibus

So is the TB SS getting a 6-speed or is GM going foul that up? That is such an awesome SUV otherwise. Has the LS2, AWD, but where's the 6-speed????? The dash has to go to. The only thing wrong with my mom's 02 TB or any TB for that matter. The interior is disgusting. Also, I highly doubt that the TB SS will be anywhere near as "attainable" as the article in the earlier portion of the thread makes it sound. Guaranteed $40k plus.

I agree... same with the fullsize lineup, IMHO....
I hope to see big strides in the interiors when the new models come out.

Re: Trailblazer, Malibu, Maxx, SS pics.
How can they put the SS badge on NA versions of the malibu engines and not make those engines compete with the others in the segment?
The regular honda accord V6 along with the V6 version of the altima all get more power. The hybrid version of the honda is even more powerfull.
I just dont understand how you can come to the table with less power then what the competition has had more of for years.
You know it wouldnt be that bad if it was just an extra model, but to go out and put the SS badge, that is gm trying to tell people how fast it is. Well here is some news, it is laging behind the competition!
They should have put the LS trim instead of SS...keep SS stricly for SC or v8 application. Or at least with competitive product
I know we haven't seen performance figures yet, but lets be honnest, the best they can hope for is that they will be able to follow the above mentioned cars (that, by the way, are not marketed as super street performance cars) ...there will defenetly not be any "blowing out of the water" of anyone.
I do like all the other SS's though; cobalt, trailblazer, colorado, these seem to make sens to me.

I don't understand how people here can say out of one side of their mouths that Pontiac and Chevy need to be better differentiated, and on the other hand, expect the cars to be equipped in exactly the same way.
If you want a family sedan or SUV with some power, get a Chevy with SS trim. If you want an all out sport sedan with a manual trans along with the looks both inside and out to back up the bigger engine, then get a Pontiac. That's why GM has multiple divisions folks.
I applaud GM in that for once they had the brains to offer vehicles that make sense for each division, and look forward to test driving both. I would lean towards the Pontiac because I like the 6-speed, and like the overall looks better; however, I really am smitten with the idea of a fast Malibu Maxx. I'd just love to see the look on an RSX Type S driver when he gets burned by a Chevy station wagon
If thats not SS I don't know what is!

Re: Trailblazer, Malibu, Maxx, SS pics.
the reason the TB SS does not have the bumper shown on the TB SS concept is that it would not pass crashworthiness tests...and 5mph bumper tests....remember, there's a spare under there along with a fuel tank and lotsa other stuff......
One other thing to consider......did you ever notice that when GM publishes HP, you can take it to the bank? (and in some cases, have some left over???)
I'd wait until you drove the cars before jumping to conclusions about performance.....

I'm really glad you decided to stick around.
I have no problem with the production rear bumper. That's what the aftermarket is for
Any info on the pricing yet? I'm wondering how it will compare to the SRT8 Magnum/Charger...
Re: Trailblazer, Malibu, Maxx, SS pics.
The TB SS certainly gets my attention!
I particularly like this line ...
... meaning cloth is standard.
I'm concerned about the auto only though .... that 4 speed will kill fuel economy.

So, yes I certainly do notice the HP #'s, and point it out to my buddies every chance I get!
Also a big seller for me is the fact that we don't need no SCer to make big power, like they do "Across Town". I am much more into low rpm TQ. than HP #'s. Which is why I love the Buell so much, as well as my Z. This is why it feels like my 94Z will smoke my cousins 01 Cobra, low rpm Tq., even though his car stock is rated at 320 hp., 317Tq., mine was 275hp., 325Tq., Low rpm tq. is where its at!
The Tq #'s are what impress me most about the LS... er..Um, I mean semi-Hemi! My buddy just got a new GMC Z71 , he was going to get a dodge, thankfully he did not. One of the things he bitched about was the dash look. His wife has an Envoy, he says it looks the same inside but he got it anyway ( another GM guy). What's the reason we don't have any whiteface or silverface guages or something to remedy these dash complaints?
I think it would spruce things up a bit on the inside, it can't cost much, but visually it makes a big dif! All this aside, I really like The Trailblazer SS, as well as the Malibu Maxx SS. I do feel a little sad the Malibu name is on a puller, but hey who says we couldn't still have a Chevelle! One that I haven't mentioned, the Equinox. I also think is real nice for what it is, way nicer than say a tracker!
My same buddy had a Malibu (they traded it in on the Envoy) he said it was a good car, again for what it is (A-B car). The new Bu is much more exciting looking IMO. Things are looking up IMHO.
