Trailbazer/Envoy/(Bravada)/Rainier and...

a new Saab SUV on the same platform...

http://www.motortrend.com/features/news/112_news4/

You'd think GM would differentiate the Saab version substantially from a visual standpoint from the other GM offerings on this platform... no pic though... have to wait and see.

They went from using the Rendevous/aztek to SRX to Trailblazer/Envoy.

I think the SRX would have been the best choice for a Saab SUV

Ya, considering Saab's target market, I would agree... maybe this goes even further to show that Cadillac is going to keep a strong measure of exclusiveness with Sigma...

I also think Isuzu has a version of that platform running around called the Acender. My g/f pointed out to me on the road one day "Look at that wierd looking Trailblazer" since she wants one. I was instead an Isuzu Ascender....but they are obviously related. Didn't Isuzu develop the Trailblazer/Colorado?

Colorado yes.

TrailBlazer, I thought was a pure GM venture... I am pretty sure they are not even the same platform.

I am pretty sure it is the same platform...it has the I6 and V8 options just like the Trailblazer...and looks alot alike.

Actually it is the same platform...here is proof

I though the Colorado and Trailblazer used a very similar platform.

Well, no that isn't proof of anything. That just says that Isuzu has a version of the TrailBlazer in the Ascender... it doesn't even mention Colorado.

Colorado shares a verison of the TrailBlazer engine, though. That I know, and won't argue. That doesn't mean the Colorado and TrailBlazer are the same platform.

EDIT: I'm not saying I am totally correct on the TrailBlazer and Colorado not being on the same platform, but that doesn't prove me wrong...

And I'll offer this as a base of support for my thinking that Colorado does NOT share a platform with TrailBlazer:

http://www.nctd.com/sneakpreview.cfm?ReviewID=34

...Based on a new truck architecture developed with Isuzu, the Colorado features a ladder-type frame, independent front suspension and a live rear axle...
Since it says "new" and TrailBlazer has already been available over a year, and the fact that they don't mention TrailBlazer when referring to the arcitechure... I think that reinforces what I thought from the beginning.

And finally, I have found written word that Colorado and TrailBlazer are in fact not the same platform:

http://www.ssrrs.com/platforms.html

ISZ190/GMT-355:

This is the new Chevy Colorado, Chevy LUV, Isuzu pickup, GMC Canyon. A joint program. Powertrains will be GM's 5cyl for North America, Isuzu powerplants for the rest of the world. GM's inline 6 will NOT fit. This shares practically nothing with GMT-360. Replaces GMT-325 and pickup versions of ISZ-140. (The five cylinder is based on the Trailblazer straight six).

GMT-360:

SUV Chevy Trailblazer/GMC Envoy/Olds Bravada. Chevy Trailblazer EXT/GMC Envoy XL long wheelbase editions, Envoy XUV midgate. Isuzu will get a lwb version (Ascender) to replace the Trooper. SSR is based on this platform. Buick Ranier will take over when the Bravada is phased out.

I am unsure...I think they are similar platforms...

Regardless...
Isuzu Hombre=Colordo/Canyon
Isuzu Ascender=Trailblazer/Ranier/Envoy.

Interestingly the Trailblazer platform is used on the SSr and the Colorado platform was used for the Bel Air concept.

I think there is a connection between the two, but i am unsure design wise.
