What else is there to comment on about a non-GM or non-RWD related recall?
You could have said that too, but your intentions were obviously the same either way - the try and say the media is biased against GM.

The point of recall threads? I think most people view import recall threads as "good news" and a "light at the end of the tunnel for GM", and view GM recall threads as necessary bad news. But this is not a GM-only forum, and certainly not an LSx only forum. Heck, there's all of one sub-forum of this entire board that's for LSx only and that's LS Engine Tech.

Sorry you don't like it but that's the way it always has been.

Re: Toyota recalls 565,000 vehicles!

As time progresses I dont feel Toyota can match GM quantity AND quality.

Time will tell though.

Toyota is slowly digressing in quality as they get larger. GM is slowly progressing. So yes, I think they'll meet sooner or later.

The whole fact that this is going on proves how valuable competition is in a free market - competition is the ONLY reason GM is improving. Toyota seems to be worsening recently and I can only assume this is because they feel a lack of competition in the field.

I think that Toyota is running into a problem that faces any company - limited resources. Granted, most companies frame that problem in the context of cash, which is certainly not Toyota's problem. But there is a reason why companies tend to be restricted in their size even in the absence of outside influences (such as regulation).

There's also probably a bit of arrogence on the behalf of Toyota and their much-touted Toyota Production System - my guess is that the company assumed that they could enter any market in the world, put their systems in place, and start churning out good product. It's just not that easy, and anyone who starts believing in their company's "system" as some sort of a religion tends to lose sight of what makes any organization function - its people. Frankly, it takes a lot longer to grow individuals than it does to develop and impliment "systems", but in the end my money's on the company which does the best job of developing and deploying its human resources.

isn't that very similar to GM until about a year after lutz came onboard and he started to break the system GM used?

I could start posting threads about the new Tornado, or new sticker packages for Civics too, or right a 10 page review about the floor mats in a Kia and they would all be automotive news too.

Was not the original intent of making a Toyota recall thread to point out Toyota quality problems? Why else would you post a story that makes Toyota look bad on a GM fan site?

They would be automotive news if they were about new happenings in the automotive news field. But the example topics you gave above would sink straight to the bottom because nobody would give a damn. Comparing the relevance of a story on a recall to a new sticker package is just stupid. You won't see the sticker package making headline news, but you will see this recall all over the news. So that right there should tell you something about news worthiness, since you don't seem to see it for yourself.

i must have missed the nightly news report on the honda sticker package, or the dozens of major news outlets running kia floor mat stories on their front pages.

IIRC, GM recalls also get posted here ... so would that mean the only reason these are posted is because people are attempting to make GM look bad on a GM fan site? or is it just "Automotive News" (which, if you look up a few inches, is part of the title of this forum)

Most people here drive GM vehicles and they can be informative. Other than that cars like the Vette, Sigma, Kappa, GTO, V8 trucks or anything performance related have to do with a GM performance vehicle themed site.

I still think most recall threads are for slow news day.

For better or worse, it's very difficult to draw any significant parallels between the way that GM and Toyota do business.

So if in your opinion non-GM news and/or non-performance news doesn't belong in this forum then are you posting threads like these:
