Re: Toyota recalls 565,000 vehicles!

Here in Detroit it warranted only a small banner at the top of the Business section, then an article of page 3. Then again, it affects less than 200,000 cars in the US, all of the Priuses, and there have been no complaints in the US related to the defect.

Well, it's front-page news on CNN.com:

And Money/CNN:

And ABC News' homepage:

As well as being on the front page of CBS News' website:

On MSNBC's page, you had to go to their Business section to see the headline, so I didn't include that here.

Re: Toyota recalls 565,000 vehicles!

it was a headline on this morning's "today" show on NBC, specifically that it included all prius hybrid cars to date.

damned media bias, its obvious they love toyota and just refuse to report on this issue ...

It was a huge 1 million vehicle recall including favorite vehicle gas friendly (but not environment friendly) vechicle the Prius, did you think it wasn't going to get reported? 30,000 car GM recalls get front page news.

Again - how many of those 1 million were actually in the US? A small fraction of them. Now how many of those vehicles have actually failed in the US to date? Zero. That means zero injuries.

The media likes sensational stories. Recalls not involving any deaths or injuries aren't sensational.

PS - I think it has already been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that this got plenty of front page attention.

Can't disagree with that.

They shouldn't be, but sometime they are reported like they are.

Who said it didn't? It is CNN.com right now in the auto section, the next story under the huge headline "Can GMC get some respect?"

edit: USAtoday forgot to report it though, it isn't even in their auto section http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/front.htm Maybe they are just slow, or their 732546238957th article about gas prices took up all the space for autos in the money section..

And I started getting disappointed that I wouldn't see your standard "Damn media bias" response after reading 4 of your posts...

Thanks for not disappointing!

You asked a very obviously rhetorical 'question' which got this thread started on the track that it did. I know I'm obviously not the only one who read your reply as having such an intention - Z28Willson's comment makes it pretty obvious that he had the same perception.

Well, all you really had to do was look at the first reply in the entire thread to see the direction it was heading. The rest just fall into place like dominos.

Post #2 in this thread is if anything far more common than anasazi's reply, which is, again, a reply to the typical statement made in #2.

If you're going to sarcastically bitch about redundant comments, maybe you should bitch about the redundant comments that cause the redundant replies?

So should I have said "We will have to see if the mainstream media covers this as much as they cover smaller GM recalls"? What is the point of Recall posts on here anyways. We all know cars have problems and once in awhile a manufactorer recalls them to fix the defect. Unless it is LSx car related it is pretty much a waste of a thread on this board. What else is there to comment on about a non-GM or non-RWD related recall?

thats funny, i hadn't realized the "Automotive News/Future Vehicle Discussion" forum was for GM-only, RWD, and LSx based engine discussions.
