Toyota does hybrids the right way
Toyota once again has bent the rules of performance, developing a powerful supercar that won't offend Mother Nature or her minions. Ironic, but the one company that would have no financial challenges building a car this daring, probably won't. Enthusiasts with socially conscious hearts can only hope.
Its cool and all, but they won't build it.. 31 mpg
Yet, currently in production, Vettes are getting almost 30 mpg on the highway, with 405 hp, yet nobody's raving about that.

. I've see 30 on the freeway in my 99 Hardtop. Plus the vette is aerodynamic and lighweight. But yeah, the LSx is an amazing engine too.
From the article-
There's a math error here that I can't figure out. But, 31mpg isn't anything to brag about. The Lexus RX-330 gets that same basic hybrid setup this fall, and they're claiming at least that sort of mileage. Surely, a lightweight, aerodynamic sports car would do better.
I'm still waiting for this- http://www.supercars.net/cars/2002@$Acura@$DN-X%20Conceptg.html
EDIT- funky link. Cut and paste.
If driven more moderately a single 7.5 liter (13.7 gallon) tank of gasoline should result in approximately 700 km (435 miles).

True, trueOn another note, this car reminds of the 05 Eclipse concept, V6+electric motor. Seems like a good idea, I wonder if anything will make it into production.
Found this:
Some more pics from Toyotas site
I think its a real concept car, not a toy as was mentioned.

7.5L = 1.98 gallons
13.7L = 3.6 gallons
7.5 gallons = 28.5L
13.7 gallons = 52.1L
EDIT: I went to Toyota's site and the car does in fact have a 13.7 gallon tank, which means that it was the liter number that they pulled out of somewhere. Anyway that does make 31.75 MPG which is not really ground shattering, unless it can do that in the city.

Either way, that's pretty cool.
