It's a really good thing for GM that they have Holden.

This is significant news!

If they really can get it done in 3 years (get cracking in 6 months and have it done as early as 2010?!) it would seem to indicate that the parts & drivetrain to be used in such a car are already done. I'm sure that IF this car becomes reality that quickly, it would have to have key components from the VE if Holden's going to make it.

Kappa is a possibility, and GM can do a Kappa based sedan pretty quickly by all accounts. But I don't think something like that is compatible with Holden's assembly plant and I don't see GM setting up a Kappa plant in Korea if they have excess capacity at Wilmington.

Woah, hold on. I thought it was decided that Kappa could not be stretched.

I'm confused.

My bad. Let me rephrase that:

GM could create a new hydroformed spaceframe that uses Kappa components pretty quickly.

I can't tell you how all over this car I would be. Should it be built and offered in the US, there will be one next to the Camaro in our driveway.
