Kudos to Nissan for refusing to produce a truck without a serious drivetrain as standard equipment. Nobody else (Ford, GM, Dodge and Toyota included) has ever bothered to do it before.
Last time I checked, the Ram didn't come without a serious drivetrain as standard equipment with the 4.7, but good luck trying to find one, it seems that every dealer stocks nothing but Hemis. Dodge doesn't even offer a v6 anymore with the Ram.

Non-Hemi Durrangos aren't selling very well either.

That is because Hemi sales are though the roof, everyone wants one.

50% of Durangos sell with the Hemi vs. 9% when the 5.9L was king.

Check out this article from autoweek.

What's the point of still building the old model?
Ford has 5 truck plants, they can't retool them all at the same time so some are making the new body style, some are making the old. The '04 Lightning was old body style. The lightning plant is that last one of the 5 to get retooled this year.
