Thier are rumors the Solstice may get a new name when it goes into production.

This car was shown in Louisville KY a few months ago for the first time ever in public. Car even has a 4th generation fbody dash.!! No one knows what the current engine is? Pontiac was rumored to want to continue the trans am name plate. I see something like this more likely as a firebird or ta. To use the firebird name on solstice would be laughable, they have nothing in common.

BTW, I think the Solstice should retain that name for the production version.

I can definitely see some of its styling cues in the 4th gen Firebird though, so from that perspective part of it lived on till 2002.

The solstice is a different design mentality altogether - smaller, 2 seater with something like miata like handling and looks to match.

I've seen one in person. Nobody who's seen the car in person compares it to a Miata. It does seem sized similarly to the Crossfire, though.

My god, every thread about the Solstice it has to be explained that the thing is not Miata sized, and is actually pretty wide and long.
