You should've said right from the beginning that THIS was your issue, that GM renamed Monaro into a GTO. That's all.

But you trying to claim Monaro/GTO is anything BUT a muscle car is just absurd. It is as much a muscle car as Mustang/F-body is a ponycar.

Honestly, why are you still arguing? Are you trying to convince this board, or yourself?

I didn't say the New GTO wasn't a muscle car...I said it wasn't really a GTO and didn't live up to it's name. It's a poor revival of the GTO.

I don't get why on this site if one person disagrees then everyone must jump on him. You can't battle an opinion. Some peopel liek the GTO some people don't there's been many views on each of the boards I posted on about the car.

The facts are the NEW GTO is a Manaro..and the only thing changed on it is the badges. So how exactly is it a GTO? Like putting Type-R stickers on a EX or something. Just because it says type-R doesn't mean it is.

Just becasue it's a RWD V8 doesn't mean it's note worthy. I don't see why GM does sloppy things like that. I think it's disrespectful to the cars heritage to slap it's namesake on just any vehicle. The only reason the USA version of hte Manaro says GTO is becasue it was "Cheap & Efficient for GM to do." The original GTO being a Hopped up Tempest with an *** load of power accessories and the new GTO substitue being nothingless that an average LS-1 is ironic in itself. Even worse is the price that GM is offering the Manaro at 35K. But the fact is people aren't paying 35K because it's a Manaro...thier paying 35K because they think thier getting a GTO. Sad that a company would trick it's customers like that. O-well I'm kinda fed up with GM and thier half *** automobiles. Ford is....and Dodge will definantly a comeback.

I ripped off all the Bowties off my car the day I brought it.

MY GOD DUDE, THE ORIGINAL GTO WAS A TEMPEST!!! A Tempest!!! What's the difference between what they did then and what they did now. Tell me.

So what would a "real" GTO be by today's standards? Probably a blown FWD Grand Am. Is that what you would prefer? I'm serious! That is what a "true" GTO would be in relation to 1964. Or, is a "true" GTO based on the 1964 Pontiac Tempest? I suppose we should've drudged up a 40 year old platform for this one. Hey it handles like a land barge and gets 10 MPG but that's a GTO! Know the real history of the GTO. That's all I ask.

I don't think anyone ever said you couldn't have your opinion...Personaly, I agree that the looks are a little too boring. Your false assumptions are what people have a problem with. A lot of what you wrote simply isn't true. We argue and debate a lot on this forum....but untruths do nobody any good.

They've done more than just the nose and badges.

GTO substitue being nothingless that an average LS-1 is ironic in itself.
I know for a fact they did cam work to get greater low end torque for better off the line feel. They also put in a 3.46 ( I think that's it) rear gear for low end grunt and tuned the exhaust for sound and performance.

thier paying 35K because they think thier getting a GTO. Sad that a company would trick it's customers like that.
I don't know of any cover up by GM so as to mislead people. Anyone that reads any article on the car knows it's a slightly re-engineered Monaro. There's no trick to it....

Dude, you seriously just do not understand. You don't understand how or why this car is the new GTO and why it's a good thing even if it's not perfect or being done exactly the way most people would like it to be. You are also taking things way too far, GM is not gonna be the same GM that you are complaining about in time. The car is going to keep getting more "GTO-like" in its looks and a power increase with every year. Also, in only a few years it will be built here and not a car with just GTO emblems, a Pontiac bumper, and a few mods. Would you rather wait years or have a good car now?? GM needs a musclecar.

I think alot of us here have to realize that we know more than probably 70% of people out there and there are alot that share his misinformed/misguided opinion.

Remember when this forum started? There were many, many people convinced that GM was shooting itself in the foot, or worse. The mood was entirely sour. Small pieces of info coming out eventually formed a good picture for the faithful that read on a regular basis. We won't ever know everything, but the news has gotten better and better over time till most of the people here are now optimistic.

Heatmaker....take some time and read posts here...It's actually pretty interesting for a hobbyist. I'm surprised what I've picked up over the years.

I don't like the Manaro (could careless how it's spelled). Why keep tyring to convince me it's a good car...I'm obvioulsy not interested in it. Anyway, this post was never about the GTO. It was just about GM and Muscle cars and how thier killing them off.
I doubt there will be a serious Muscle car again on GM's lot till 2008 sometime.
