I still don't like that as a name for another level of the car.

"Sting Ray" (1963-1967), then "Stingray" (1969-1976) were put on every single Corvette that was built for the years they were used.

Its a lot better than Super Sport, at least there's a little bit more heritage there. I think, however that a remake of the '63 Grand Sports would have been perfect.

I agree with you here.

Although "Super Sport" actually has it's origins in Corvette's heritage (Mr. Duntov), it doesn't work since it has been used on basically every Chevy BUT Corvette for production.

Personally, I like ZL-1, or maybe even something new... seems like everything gets re-used these days. Maybe let a car that looks to be legendary build it's own legend???

I like Sting Ray much better than SS. But I think ZL1 would be more appropriate...I still say, why not Corvette Zora? Give the man his due!

Re: stingray(blue devil)article

Just think... if they do decide to use Sting Ray.... we could have 50 or so threads fighting over if they should have used "Sting Ray" or "Stingray"... just like the old Z28 vs Z/28 Battle Royales!

Sting Ray is better than SS, but I'd still rather have them use something new. Was there ever a Z-- for a factory supercharged Vette?

There has never been a factory supercharged Corvette...... yet another reason to give it it's own, new designation.

I emailed Red a better name, but it can only be used if it is a naturally aspirated engine.

Re: stingray(blue devil)article

Stingray could just be the working name of the project. Wasn't the new Mustangs codename the "Wildflower" or something?

That said, I like Stingray, Sting Ray, ZL1, and even Corvette Zora! W/ any luck, these bad boys will drive down the price on an '06 Z06 enough in about 2 yrs for me to get one!

Sting Ray or Stingray?

Whatever. I'm glad that we can stop with all this Corvette SS business now.

I'm with you on that one buddy, I figure all guys that "gotta have it now" will trade up and put a lot more '06 Z06's on the market. That should be good for us.

I'd like to see the same thing! Why not just keep the Blue Devil name. The Corvette faithful know the name, its gotta neat story behind it and its a cool name. I mean someone dreamed up Sting Ray back in day, why not dream up something new.
