I have owned two VW's in the past. A '90 Corrado G60 and a '92 Passat for my wife. For someone buying a new car...VW's are extremely appealing. They have interiors which are several orders of magnitude beyond GM. The plastics, the carpeting, the assembly...everything. They are very fun to drive and generally constructed of superior materials.

But they do have a fly in the ointment. If you get a bad one....you're in for a nightmarish owner experience. My wife's Passat, ties my old Citation as the worse car I've ever owned. Actually, my Citation was worse....but at least it could be easily repaired. From 20,000 miles on....the Passat was plagued from one problem to the other.....some of them would take many multiple attempts to repair...only to recur once again.

At 68,000 miles, I took a bath on it and gladly traded it in.

My G/F's VW came with the monsoon stereo. We spliced in a converter ($40) into the back speaker outputs and hooked up 3 JL 10w6's to it. One of the easiest system hookups Ive ever done, and it sounds great. Been running that way for 2+ years w/no problems.

Her little GTI has taken down it's share of mustang GT's and with the addition of the swaybar, it's a seriously fun car to drive. The 1.8T is a fun, torquey little engine. We even pull a 1500 lb boat behind it.

Around here we have millionaires in the same abundance as corn. I'm not saying you have to be a millionaire to get an SSR, but I do see them ALL over around here. I talked to a chevy dealer about some SSRs one time because I wanted to test drive one. He said I couldn't because the one that I was talking about was alreaddy sold, just waiting to be delivered. So I was thinking, "OK, typical excuse, he just doesn't want me test driving it." So I came back the next week, seen a new one, asked if I could test drive that one...nope...alreaddy taken... So I was like "If you don't want me to test drive them, just let me know and I'll stop bothering you " And he said "No, really! we have sold 20+ more, we're just waiting for them to all come from the factory still!"
