I wonder if DC will offer a version of this to law enforcement agencies? Think about it. Plenty of power in the V8 models. Plenty of room in the back seat for perps. Plenty of room in the far back for equipement. Rear Wheel Drive. And plenty of room on the sides to show off the department's colors

A D/C Rep at the Balt auto show told me that it WILL be offered with the optional "Supercharged 5.7 HEMI"

So who knows? With the huge surge of new RWD platforms coming in the next 3-5 years it would be a foolish idea to go out and purchase the first one available IMHO.
I'll give GM 3 years to come out with something for me besides a C6 and then maybe I'll look at the S/C srt-8 Magnum or some other "lead slead" to fit my needs.

The 2.7 L option is refered to as "the rental car" in certain circles. It's there for high-volume fleet sales, which will help to improve the platform's impact on CAFE numbers.
Anyone serious about the car will get at least the 3.5 L, and hopefully the Hemi. I see no need for the 4.7 L - it's inferior to the bigger pushrod V8.

Yup gotta agree. With both the 3.5 and the 4.7 rated at 250 hp, there would seem no viable argument for offering the larger engine (ok, it does make a wee bit more torque).
Now, if they were to offer a 300 hp version of the little 8,.....

Then bump the power of the 4.7 to 300hp. The big advantage that the 4.7 will have over the 3.5 is more auc for trq. Besides, there is a lot more aftermarket support for the 4.7 then there is for the 3.5, for what little it has.

Besides, if I'm not mistaken, the 4.7 L production line is already making just about every motor that it can.
