SSr......pull the plug?
SSr......pull the plug?
The SSr.
It doesn't look anywhere near as cool as the concept did, it's going to weigh more than anyone expected, it's going to be really slow and be very expensive.
Not to go out on a limb, but who thinks that Chevy should pull the plug on this one?

I doubt they can pull it even if they wanted to now...
They've been talking about it so long, if it never same out, it'd be a joke.
but... I never really liked the concept or the looks of this car... not my thing.

When I said I was disappointed with the production SSR, I didn't want to make it sound like Chevy should pull the plug. It is still going to sell well (for their expectations and what it is) and it still stands out in a crowd, even with the toned-down styling. I still think it serves a good purpose in the Chevy lineup amidst the cookie-cutter Impala, Malibu, etc. I just wish it was better.
I have a couple of pictures on my website from last year's NAIAS:

EDIT: This is the production version btw.

IMO they shouldn't make it. Its another stupid looking car that probably will not sell or will not sell after a while.
And I agree with the previous post!! Thats what they SHOULD do.

Just remembered, wasn't the reason for SSR's existence besides, a styling demonstration, to give GM a bit of experience in producing a profitable low volume niche vehicle, much like Chrysler has learned how to do?

This gallery has pics of both. The one with the mirrors on top of the windshield is the concept. I really don't see a big difference. And no, even though the numbers aren't what we'd hoped for, GM should not pull the plug on it. Even the Prowler was a neat car and it was no hotrod.

Yes, pull the plug. It has been around at the shows and Woodward for so long, it is a joke. It makes GM look like total idiots that it woudl take that long to actually get a limited edition vehice from concept to production.
Also, the styling, is over. It had its run. Retro is over. PT Cruiser, Prowler, Thunderbird. Retro is over, and GM never even joined the party.
Yes, please pull the plug on the joke.

Nope, this is the concept version (which everyone seems to like so much).

These are some of the changes in the production model....no V-butted windshield, C5 mirrors replace those neat billet ones mounted on top of the windshield, the wheels lose there negative (and cool looking) offset.
Also the concept was based off of the old S-10. The production version has longer overall length, shorter wheelbase and longer overhangs.
Put all these changes together...and the production SSR comes up short when compared to the concept.
But, I'm sure that they will pre-sell everyone that they make.
