SSR observations

Kind of slow news week so...

I've had a chance to check out a number of SSR's up close lately, and as I've mentioned previously, I'm warming up to them.

One thing I've personally noticed though, with the top up, the SSR looks pretty tough....with the top down, it looks very dorky.

Anyone else observe this phenomenon?

They sit way too high off the ground. If they were lower they would get a big
But for now

I think they look stupid at speed. Sitting on a showroom floor they can be pretty cool, when you're up close to them. but seeing them in traffic...the whole back half of the truck is really akward looking.

I didn't think either top up or down was better or worse. For what it is I really like it.

I really like the rig & think it looks great inside & out.

However, after seeing how fragile some of the pieces were up at the SF show (there were at least 2 pieces broken) I'm not as impressed as I would be. For the price, the interior should at least be nearly indestructable, or at least as solid as Ford F series interiors feel to be.

Not specifically slamming the SSR, but the H2 is another vehicle that has a great looking, but cheap feeling interior. The seats are great, but the dash and door components seem to be made from the same type of fragile plastic as car models, and aren't very securely installed.

Speaking of SSR.. I saw one yesterday and it was the Metallic Blue/Purple color and I think he had an exhaust I'm not sure... but it it sounded GOOD!!!! I tried to catch up to it but it was rush hour traffic and I Couldn't get close enough to it before I had to turn left.

Personally I think the interior doesn't look all that great. I know it's minimalistic but for some reason I think it needs to be a bit more elegant like the T-bird interior (the look not the materials).. but then again that's an opinion.
The exterior is beautiful and I see a Silver one at Mike Hall Chevrolet on my way home daily so it's really made an impression.

My father-in-law's buddy bought a new Redline Red SSR, with the running boards, and bed strips, etc...

The dealership is close to my in-law's house, so his buddy asked him to pick it up for him and keep it at his place until he could come get it, wetaher permitting.

I got a good look at it... it is..... different. Personally, I would have dropped the cash on the Commemorative Edition Corvette LS1 Coupe that was on the showroom floor next to it.

The interior was a little stark, I thought. Also, there were these little plastic ascessories that slid into tracks on the console that stuck out like sore thumbs too, and I guarantee with any use they are going to get hit and fall off, and potentially break either the clip or the slide track on the console...

I also thought it was odd that none of us could find a 'trunk' release anywhere in the cabin...???

People seem to stare at it though...

I agree, they look much better with the top up. I also think they look better when they're not yellow or red. Our local dealer just got a silver one and it looks muuuuuuuuch better IMO. I sat in a yellow one a couple of weeks ago and I poked my fingers all over the interior. Some things felt really good and others still felt a tad cheap. Overall I think I like it.

My neighbour bought one a few weeks ago. When I'm working in my home office and stare out my window I see it parked in his driveway.

We went for a ride. Man, what an attention getter! Everyone gawked, waved, honked, and smiled! The exhaust sounds much better than my Zed, but of course the performance is nowhere close.

If it was $40,000 (CDN) it might be worth it. For $70,000, you'd have to be nuts.

They're not small in person at all. Yes, the passenger compartment is somewhat tight, but the truck is a lot bigger than it looks. It's amazing how far off the ground you sit. My neighbour is contemplating slamming it, but with the solid rear axle there's not much room to drop out back.
