SS fatigue
I agree, its a joke, and boring. Enough with the V6 and FWD in cars that should be RWD and V8. Years from now no1 will want to restore 1 of those or swap engines and run it at the track or whatever. That goes for many other GM cars.
Really, I don't have a problem with FWD V6's carrying the SS badge ....or selective trucks for that matter.
FWD V6's are what people are driving nowadays. The whole purpose for Chevy Super Sports has always been to give a sportier flair to more mundane models.
Chevy SS should be equated to Ford GT.
My only issue is, I wish we had morecars.

There's enough FWD V6's in GM to choose from. People are driving FWD V6 because they practically have no choice.

I would have perfered a GM RWD V8 coupe, but none could be found... within 100 miles, that a dealer was willing to trade, etc etc etc.
The Monte SS has a lot going for it over my 99 Z28... it just feels more modern, it's put together much tighter, has more features, rides niceer over bad roads...
The thing is, without a doubt, I would have purchased a 4 seat RWD V8 Coupe from GM if I could have found one in my price range... why? Because I really dislike FWD, the Monte could use more power, and the suspension is somewhat soft through turns, but I guess I should expect that in a car like this.
So, with with the exception of Mustang, and I do not care for Mustangs (They are older than even the Camaro was), I was FORCED into something other than what I wanted. There is no doubt about it.
Do I like the Monte? Yes... it's a great car for what it is, but I want a new, modern, quality Camaro and Firebird to choose from!
It looks as of now that the SS trucks will not be getting the show car mills. They seem to be getting the LQ4/LQ9. Good but not as good as the cross town options. Give it a BB 8.1L or a S/C GenIII as seen in the H@ and Caddy truck at SEMA.

As many here have said, "other" V8 RWD cars are selling VERY well in their own right, so purely FWD is not the attraction.
I recently rode (back seat) in a new Monte, and I have to agree, the car rode great with 4 of us in it, and seemed very well put together. Shame it couldn't turn-over the rear wheels like the old ones...
The GTO will be out & Chrysler will have some new RWD models in a year. The new Mustang will be out some months later & the following year we should have a new Dodge RWD with possibly a coupe version. Right when I plan to dive into car-payment land again. If it wasn't for them, I'd probally have to seriouly consider a 2 or 3 year old Bimmer.
Hopefully the General will broaden my choices by then.
