Post SS Concept Motor Trend Story...

Some good reading and some pics...

Interesting quote, though we already know that Sigma can carry at least the LS1, but almost asuredly the LS6:

We hear GM engineers looked to Sigma first for the Super Sport concept, but then determined the platform couldn't handle the torque. Here's where it gets really interesting: While building the SS on Corvette bits, GM engineers got busy developing a heavy-duty version of Sigma to handle the torque of the Z06 engine that will power the CTS. So maybe there is hope for a Sigma-based SS after all.

I wish the Camaro engine bay was this easy to work on.

So if there is another sigma (which we will now refer to as Sigma Heavy ) which the SS could be built on, and given the size of the SS is pretty FBody ish along with a firewall that we would have to assume would be an OK size for an FBody, this gives us 3 platforms for an F5. Solstice, Sigma/VE, and the new Sigma.

Plus it'd give us another platform for the state-side-built GTO that would be able to differentiate it from the new Monte and Grand Prix which I'll assume would be built on Sigma/VE.

Interesting...
